A Dakari Story

A Dakari Story

True, the young lad was a loud-mouthed one,

He always tried to have lots of fun.

Daisuke always seemed to be the jealous guy,

He'd see the girl with Takeru and let out a sigh.

He wasn't as charming, he wouldn't want to be.

Then he'd lose his competitiveness that people see.

"I'd do anything," he said, "to get her attention."

Well, he tried… But he ended up with detention!

He tried to recite a made up poem in class,

But instead, he disrupted it and made him look like an ass.

His peers just laughed in midst of his embarrassment.

Daisuke hung his head and then off he went.

Ashamed, abashed, and just plain sad,

He skipped the rest of his classes, just to act mad.

Inside he was determined, to win her heart,

He wanted them to never part…

"Daisuke," A calm and gentle voice was heard,

Hikari's look of worry had the young boy lured.

"Are you okay?" She asked, taking a seat.

"Of course." He answered, his cheeks flushed with heat.

The two sat in silence, unsure of what to say.

Daisuke leaned and kissed her cheek, then backed away.

"Sorry," he whispered, "I didn't mean to…

Well, I did… Because… Hikari, I love you."

She smiled silently and slipped her hand in his own,

"I've been trying to say that- Now we're not alone."

Daisuke smiled back, for he had won his fight,

He had won the girl whom he loved with all of his might.

Together they were, now and forever…

When were they to part? Hello?! …Never.
