Better

Jude knows she had every right to go to London. Phrases such as "once in a lifetime opportunity" and "be her own person" float through her head often. They help her justify her behavior when she doubts her decision.

She still loves him.

It doesn't change anything, though, because she goes to London to be her own person and take part in once in a lifetime opportunities.

She figures, if she can make music without him, she can learn to live without him. She should, really. Her friends are always throwing around terms like co-dependant and unhealthy connection to describe her relationship with Tommy.

They're right, of course.

But that doesn't change anything either.

She writes a lot in coffee shops. Despite being in London, the idea of tea never grows on her. Day and night, she writes. Records a lot, as well. Her producer's name is Tim, which sounds a bit like Tom, so when she's really searching for a reason, she thinks that fate is trying to tell her something.

Jude thinks about him often. She thinks about Sadie. Her friends. Everyone and everything she left back in Toronto.

But really, it always comes back to him. To Tommy.

She doesn't get over him. Not really. She writes songs of no substance about moving on, but they never make it to the recording booth. They're lies, and she's always been honest with her music.

Though she has gotten quite good at lying to herself, as of late.

How else would she have convinced herself to stay in London, when Tommy was back in Canada?

She hopes he still wants her like she wants him. Months pass, and her career blossoms. She eventually stops trying to lie and starts writing songs of regret and reminisce.

Everyone knows they're about him.

She doesn't mind.

He's always known her inspiration.

Eventually her fourth album is released, and it sky rockets. She goes on her first world tour, and she is huge.

The novelty of it all fades quickly, though, because tour is a lonely time, and she still misses him.

With such world wide fame, Jude realizes she can make great music without him.

She just doesn't want to.

Eventually, she comes back. He's dated others, of course, because he is Tom Quincy after all, but no one compares to her in his eyes.

She shares the same sentiment.

They have their fair share of issues to work out, and they do so, in time. They fall back into pattern, but it's not the same as before.

It's better.

Because she's gone off and found herself just like she'd hoped. What she's found is that she doesn't want to be without him.

He's done his best to move past his baggage that's always held the pair back.

No, it's not the same as before.

It's better.

fin.

Short, sweet, and to the point. I hope you enjoyed this plotless piece. Haha. Review please. :) They brighten my day.
