Disclaimer: Obviously, I don't own Grey's.
Mark had almost forgotten what it was like to kiss Addison; what it was like to hold her in his arms. The sex, while mind blowing and amazing, came second to what it was like just to lie next to her again. I knew that eventually I would get to her. I knew she wanted me; it was just difficult sometimes to press the right buttons.
He lay back against the silk covered hotel pillows, and out of habit grabbed the remote off the bedside table, clicking on the flat screen television. It zinged to life, displaying some cheesy doctor's show about the love lives of a bunch of random people. He shook his head and changed the channel to the evening news. Real life was most definitely not like that.
He couldn't believe that she had called him. He'd just stepped out of the shower when the phone rang. He'd arrived at her door almost instantly, hoping that this was real.
Sirens sounded from the speakers on the side of the television set.
He should have wondered when she kicked him out so soon after. There was a brief moment where everything felt perfect. Calm, just right.
Stupid Pepsi commercial with that upbeat, peppy song. Pretend happiness in the midst of the horror the news was displaying again tonight. It didn't fit, and it wasn't right.
He remembered kissing her; the feel of her smooth, soft skin under his fingertips. Her skin was warm, but his fingers left goosebumps in their wake.
A moment, please.
Moments can be short. Moments can be long. There are moments of joy, moments of sorrow, moments of passion. Moments you'll never forget and moments you've already forgotten. Moments you didn't get. There are awkward moments, senior moments, moments of truth and momentary lapses in judgement. People ask for a moment, share a moment, 'I need a moment' 'you got a moment?' And 'hey, wait a moment!' You can take a moment, make a moment, spoil a moment, and if all the stars line up at just the right moment, that moment can be perfect. Moments can define you, moments can delight you, and moments can change your life. Here's to the moment, and to squeezing everything you can out of every last single one of them. Pursue the moment. Lexus. The pursuit of perfection.
God, Mark hated that. It had been so perfect, and then that little thing at the end had spoiled it. She'd kicked him out. He couldn't get over that. He gripped the sheets in frustration, the silk sliding through his fingers. Escaping. He couldn't keep a steady grip she kept sliding right through his grasp.
He didn't mind the booty calls. The sex was great. He just wanted something more. That's the only reason he flew across the country for her; the possibility of something more.
Suddenly the phone rang. He jumped in surprise. He picked it up, and for the second time that night he heard that voice, hollow through the phone line, and beckoning me. This time there was more than the possibility of something more. The way her tongue caressed my name, it was a promise.
"Mark? It's me…"
Reviews much welcome
