Disclaimer: nope, I don't own naruto.

It was a beautiful wedding. At least from a third person's point of view. Wine and food were overflowing and children and adults alike were laughing. Every person in the Hyuuga clan was excited, except the bride and groom. Hyuuga Neji didn't know what his reaction should be. Should he be angry or should he be excited? At long last, due to his uncle's insistence, there would be no more Hyuuga main or branch family. Just Hyuuga family. But it had cost him. He had to marry Hyuuga Hinata, his cousin. Although there was really nothing weird for the Hyuuga family to inter-marry to preserve the bloodline, it was a first that a branch family member would marry into the main family. Neji glanced at his cousin and studied her. He was still not accustomed in seeing her like this, after being gone for his special 5-year training outside Konoha to prepare him for their clan's leadership. At 23, she considerably grew prettier. Not really beautiful by normal standards like Sakura and Ino, but more on cute side. Her blue black hair was allowed to flow just above her waist with a crown of purple flowers in her around her head that complemented the traditional white dress with purple details for her wedding. He chuckled; he still remembers when he first saw Hinata when he was just 3 years old. He remembered asking his father "who the cute girl is?" He never expected that one day he will marry her. The situation wasn't really so bad if Hinata hadn't been so weak. If only she can, even a little bit like his former girl team mate. Even now, as he openly stared at her, Hinata could only keep her head down while her hands were visibly shaking. Neji figured that she must be nervous again. He scowled. He's got to get use to this timid wife as soon as possible.

From a spectator's point of view, Hinata's red cheeks could only be construed as a "blushing bride" scenario. But inside, Hinata was fuming. She knows that Neji was staring at her with a scowl. She really hated her situation now. Being forced to marry! To her cousin Neji of all people! Neji, the one who endangered her life during the Chuunin exam, the one who always looked down on her, the one who always considered her to be weak, and most of all, the one who didn't believe in her abilities as a ninja. Even now, she was going to marry him because her own father didn't trust in her abilities to lead the clan even if she was the rightful heir. Even when she woke up at 5 am for the last 5 years everyday, just to train in order to make her father change his mind about Neji being the next leader and her fiancé. He better not be expecting a timid and obedient wife or he'll quickly meet his Maker, Hinata silently vowed. Hinata sighed, maybe Neji was right. You really can't fight your destiny. Finally gaining slight composure, trusting that no one will see the fury in her eyes, she looked at Neji. He was talking to Tenten, all she can see was his profile. Just then, whatever Tenten was telling him caused him to smile a little. Hinata was surprised on how his smile can actually soften his features. He was looking more and more like her father. Maybe that's because their fathers were twins. She also noticed that his hair was a lot longer and he especially tied it to his back for this specific occasion. Hinata made a mental note to tell him to cut it a little then when she realized that she was already thinking like a wife and silently scolded herself.

Her thoughts were interrupted by her father's shout.

"Ah! Welcome! Hokage-sama!"

Hinata's heart was pounding wildly. She felt weak in her knees because in came, Uzumaki Naruto.

Read and review please. I'm still not sure if I should continue.
