Ziva:
I barely have a place to live in. As suddenly as I left America, I am back, and paying too much money to stay at a motel. At the moment I only have three changes of clothes and no time to go shopping. I have no income yet—unless NCIS hires me. Summer will not last and I will need clothes for winter. New coats, new boots, new everything.
The last thing I should be thinking of is going on a picnic, just two weeks back in DC—but somehow, it feels so good. Thank you, McGee, for this.
Tim:
I once resented not being sent into the field as much as Tony and Kate..or, now, Tony and Ziva. And then came Somalia.
Mind you, I would do what we did all over again, because it got us Ziva. But now I see field work as an unromantic means toward an end. Every day now, I am grateful for not just living, but for being able to enjoy pleasures. I hope Ziva likes this picnic I organized. We need simple pleasures.
Tony:
'Ziva' does not begin with a 'Zee', it begins with an 'Ungrateful'.
I said I'd bring all the food for the picnic, and I did. Fried chicken, potato salad, fruit salad, carrots, celery, angel food cake, beer and water. But everything is wrong in her eyes. Too much of this. Not enough of that. Why so many calories? Why didn't I consult with her before I went shopping? Yeah, there's more to her quarrel with me than food.
But, dang. I'd shop for anything if only we could go back to the way things were.
Jimmy:
I am so out of my league in this picnic group. I've never even been to Canada; much less Somalia. How could I begin to know what Ziva went through? Or even Tony or McGee or Gibbs? Those guys are all heroes. I'll bet they didn't even break a sweat during all of that! Can you imagine what a movie that'd be?!
I wish Abby and Doctor Mallard could be here today. I really do feel like the fifth wheel.
But that's okay; this is for Ziva. And the nice thing is…everyone's thrilled to have her back!
Gibbs:
Things change. Events bring out the best—and worst—in people. I had some misgivings about her when we left her in Israel. With her back in DC, I have doubts the size of whales.
DiNozzo and McGee were spectacular in Somalia. I'm proud of them. So is Vance, and everyone else.
But a picnic? It's just like McGee, who's far too trusting, to organize a picnic for her. Guess the team deserves it. Maybe it'll do them some good.
But I'll keep my eye on Ziva. Can she really become a successful agent?
Do I trust her?
