Kala

She asks God for many things, from the inconsequential to the things of utmost importance.

What she asks for the most is a son.

What she gets is a monster.

She doesn't know why no one else sees it, how no one else can see that the way he learns, the way he looks, the way he thinks is wrong. Her husband pays her no mind, her sisters think she's just overreacting.

But she's no fool.

She can see a demon lurking behind his eyes, devouring the soul that used to be there.

When he leaves, she cries.

She feels relieved for the first time in years.

She wakes and she knows that it's him. She knows that he's done something that her son's soul is gone completely.

The newspaper tells her that a young boy was found with his head sliced open, still in his bed.

"Mother?"

She wakes and he's standing in her doorway, up to his elbows in blood.

(knew it was him knew it knew it oh god)

"Get away from me," she hisses. "Get away from me!"

He steps forward and she moves to throw the first thing her fingers touch get him away get hi--

He looks down.

Tears slip down his face and he steps back, away from her corpse, her last thoughts echoing in his head.

(I KNEW YOU WERE A DEMON.)

He leaves the house in a blaze and when his phone rings, he picks it up.

"Mohinder?"

His breathe catches.

"Mohinder what did you do?"

He steadies his breath and hangs up the phone.

Review. If I do more one-shots, they'll all go here.
