Disclaimer: I don't own Rookie Blue

This is what I thought should have happened at the end of to serve and protect.

Enjoy!

"So, you ok to take him home now?" Sam asked.

I did want to say no so he would come with me. Then I glanced to the mirror to see Luke, my boy friend, and we just got back together and I didn't want to screw it up again so I just nodded.

"Thank you."

He flashed his million dollar smile and his eyes were warm and inviting just for you to get lost in. Standing there just smiling at each other I knew I should do something or say something, like hug him. But the last time I was in his arms was that night that screwed everything up for me.

Yet it was the best mistake I have ever made or not even a mistake at all. I decided this time I was in his arms it would just be as friends. As friends I told myself.

I took a step forward and spread my arms opened then wrapped them around his waist. Sending sparks through my body and flashes of the last time we were like this. I could feel his bare chest against mine, his lips crashing against mine. The sparks every time we kissed, the sparks that Luke could never make me feel but at least he wouldn't be able to break my heart.

Hesitantly Sam hugged me back. His hands rubbing up and down on my back. For what felt like hours I eventually pulled away. Placing my hands on his arms and staring him straight in the eyes.

"Thank you" I smiled.

"No problem" he said grinning.

"No," I said hugging him again, "You don't have to do all this for me but you do. You don't have to be nice to me but you are. You do a lot of things for me that you shouldn't. Thank you, for everything" I whispered into his shoulder.

Reluctantly I let go of him and took a couple steps back.

"McNally, I know I don't have to do those things, but I want to."

'Then why does he do all those things' I asked my self a million times in my head before asking him.

"But why?"

"Well, were friends."

"No. I mean yes. What about before we were friends?"

"Because, uh, you were the best rookie I've ever had to train," he stuttered, "The most fun to train. Every day it was something different with you."

"Best rookie huh" I said flashing him a grin.

"Shh," putting a finger to his mouth, "Its just our little secret" he winked.

"Don't worry I wont tell a soul," motioning with my finger that I'm zipping my mouth shut and throwing away the key.

I didn't know what to do or say next so I decided I was going to do something I haven't done since the blackout.

I took a couple steps forward until I was right in front of him, and placed a tiny kiss on his cheek.

"Thanks."

Just kissing his cheek made me feel like I soaring in the sky, making my cheeks extremely red. So I decided to start walking away so he doesn't notice.

"So, I'll, uh, see you tomorrow."

"Uh, yup. Night."

Practically running out of the room, I thought to myself 'I guess I just made another best mistake of my life. I seem to be making those a lot.'

Hope you guys enjoyed. That's how I wished last episode ended.
