The Fault in Our Stars One-Shot by LivingTheDauntlessLife
(A/N This has spoilers for The Fault in Our Stars. This is also my first fanfic/one-shot.
Before Gus's funeral, his family and friends were allowed into the room to say goodbye. When it came Hazel's turn she went in there. Hazel's lungs no longer had Metastasis so she didn't need her oxygen tank. Hazel went in and told Gus she didn't need her tank and she missed him. Hazel squeezed his hand one last time before leaving him. "Hazel Grace, don't leave" mumbled Gus lightly. Hazel thought she was just hearing things but then Gus said louder "Hazel where am I?"
Hazel told him she would be right back. She first went to the doctor and told him Gus was probably awake. The doctor went to check to make sure. She then told her parents who then told Gus's. The doctor came and told them that Gus was awake and had no evidence of cancer. The next day the doctor did some exams to make sure he could go home. When they arrived, Gus, Hazel, and Isaac talked. Isaac told them that soon he would get the robot eyes because Gus is here. They told Gus that he was out for about three months and he missed a lot. Isaac told Gus that everyone in support group didn't have cancer. Soon it was time for Hazel and Isaac to go home. They had the best time with Gus and hung out the next day. That day Gus gave Hazel his ending for An Imperial Affliction and a eulogy. The future went on, Gus and Hazel were getting married, Isaac was engaged and everyone was happy. This was truly a happy ending for them.
