Jennifer Honey hated her Aunt Trunchbull more than anything. Her father Magnus was a busy doctor, and his wife had died recently. Because of this, he needed to have someone to look after his daughter Jennifer. Jen's aunt, Agatha Trunchbull, was principal of Crunchem Hall Elementary School. "If she's a school principal, she must be great with kids," Magnus said to himself. How was he to know what was in store?

Aunt Trunchbull turned out to be nothing more than a big, fat bully. Right from the beginning, she abused her 2-year-old niece whenever her father wasn't around. He knew nothing of his sister-in-law's true personality. She hated her family, especially her wretched niece.

Three years passed, and Aunt Trunchbull's hatred escalated. One day she exploded and said to Jen, "YOU ARE A USELESS, FILTHY, NASTY LITTLE CREEP!" She beat poor Jenny with a belt, threw her into a cellar, locked the door, and left the house.

Magnus came home early that day! He heard Jen crying, smashed the door open, and grabbed her into his arms. He began to rock her. As he rocked, he sang softly:

"Don't cry. Please don't cry. I am here, little girl. Please don't cry, dry your eyes, wipe away your tears, little girl. Forgive me, I didn't mean to desert you. Nothing can hurt you, you've nothing to fear. I'm here."

Magnus took little Jenny up to her room and put her in bed. When she fell asleep, his mind turned to Aunt Trunchbull. "How dare that sickening hag show cruelty to my daughter!" he thought. "Let's see what this creature thinks she can do when the wrath of a grown man stands before her!"

He charged into his office, grabbed the phone, and called the police. "Officer, this is Magnus Honey speaking. I'm calling to report a case of child cruelty. The victim is my daughter Jennifer, and the abuser is my sister-in-law, Agatha Trunchbull. I came home and found my daughter locked in the cellar with bruises all over her!"

"Yes, sir. What's your address, please? The officer asked.

"I live in The Red House," Magnus replied.

"On the edge of the village? I know where that is," the officer answered. "We'll have a squad car there in a jiffy. Don't worry, your daughter will never be abused again."

"Thank you so much!" Magnus said.

He hung up the phone, turned around, and saw. . . Aunt Trunchbull standing in the doorway! She glared at Magnus with her evil black eyes.

"Come home early, do you? Reward your daughter for being a disgusting little twit, do you? Your daughter has-"

Before Aunt Trunchbull could finish her sentence, a huge, muscular cop banged open the front door. "You're under arrest for child cruelty! I hope you like orange, because you're going to prison, where you belong," he said, handcuffing Agatha. The cop threw the Trunchbull into the car and drove away.

Agatha was never seen again. Jenny and Magnus lived happily once more. When Jen grew up, she became principal of Crunchem Hall. She met an intelligent little girl named Matilda Wormwood, whose parents didn't care for her. The Wormwoods agreed to let Jenny and Magnus adopt Matilda, and no child was abused again.
