"Why do you play with girls toys so much?"

"They aren't girls toys- they're everyone toys," Kurt Hummel shot back at the beefy 4 year old before him. "And tea parties ARE fun"

"Only if you're a girl," the bully retorted before lumbering off, leaving the immaculately dressed, 4 year old Kurt behind him to think.

Were tea parties only for girls? That didn't make sense, because he liked them and he was a boy. He had to be if his dad always called him "sport" or "son". And Kurt knew sons could only be boys. So the bully had to be wrong. Just because he didn't like something didn't mean it was wrong. Did it? Kurt gave a small sniffle, before turning back to his tea party.

"Drink up, everyone," he urged the dolls and teddies surrounding him. "Tea parties are wonderful!"

"I think that too."

Kurt whipped his head around to see who said that. A short boy with unruly black hair and eyes a cross between hazel and green was watching Kurt's tea part.

"What's your name?" the mystery boy asked.

"I'm Kurt. What's your name?"

"Blaine. Umm… would you…?"

"What is it?"

"Would you like to be my friend?" Kurt's eyes widened in shock. No-one had ever wanted to be his friend before.

"I… I would like that."

"Oh yay! You're my very first friend."

"Mine too."

''Really?' Blaine honestly seemed surprised that Kurt had never had a friend before.

"Yeah. Everyone thinks that I like girls stuff more than boy stuff."

"My mum says there's just stuff," Blaine advised "And umm… since neither of us had friends before…?"

"Yeah?" Blaine blushed, his head down, and looked at Kurt through his long eyelashes.

"Do you think we could be best friends?" Kurt's mouth fell open now. This wonderful and nice boy wanted to be his BEST friend?

"That would be…" Kurt searched for the word he heard his mum say yesterday. "Fabulous."

"REALLY!"

"Yeah. Coz see? I don't tell lies. I promised my mum I wouldn't so I don't," Kurt grinned proudly.

"Can I please have a tea party with you?" Blaine asked shyly.

"Oh yes please. I love my teddies, but they never want to talk about anything but honey." Blaine gently moved a teddy to the side, and squished himself in next to Kurt, showing the same respect for personal space that all pre-schoolers have.

The two chattered on happily about their mummies and daddies, and favourite Disney movies, until-

"Kurt, you're really pretty." Kurt teacup froze halfway between his mouth and the saucer.

"Do you really think that?"

"Yeah," Blaine said earnestly, and a little embarrassed. "I think you're prettier than Ariel and Belle put together." Wow, Kurt thought. THAT was pretty. He gave a small smile to Blaine, who returned a toothy grin.

"I like you, Blaine."

"I like you, Kurt."

"Do you maybe want to get married and live happily ever after like they did in the movies?"

"Maybe. That would be very fun."

"But I need to be the bride and get a sparkly tiara, deal?"

"Deal." Blaine and Kurt shook hands seriously.

"Then I get to be the broom, okay?"

"Okay." Blaine smiled at Kurt again, before realising

"HEY! My brother Coop's here! I need to go home now, okay? I'll see you tomorrow."

"Promise?" Blaine carefully interlocked his smallest finger with Kurt's.

"Pinky promise."

And with that, Blaine bounced off to where his elder brother was talking to his leader.

"Hey Coop! Guess what?"

"What is it Blaine?" Cooper spoke to his younger brother as one would an over-excited puppy.

"I made a new best friend called Kurt. And we're gonna get married and he's gonna be the bride, and I'm gonna be the broom."

"The broom, huh?"

Blaine nodded solemnly. "Yes." He paused for a second, before adding "Kurt wouldn't be a pretty bride. He'd be BEAUTIFUL."
