Maka walked down the darkened halls of Soul's mind toward the light from the room ahead. As she reached the doorway, wearing her knee length black dress, she saw Soul inside, sitting on the piano bench, watching her approach. As she stepped through the threshold he stood, dressed in his usual black black pinstripe suit, with his burgundy shirt underneath the jacket. She'd probably never admit this to anyone, but she loved how he looked in this suit. As she began to step toward him, he did the same, meeting her halfway across the floor. Reaching each other, Soul immediately laced his fingers from one hand with hers, and wrapped his other gently around her waist. Her arm came up and wrapped slightly around his neck, as her other closed on his hand, as she had many times before. After they learned that they could meet here once they resonated their souls together, they had done it often, and always for this purpose. Soul slowly began to lead her in a waltz, moving around the room, picking up speed as they fell into their rhythm. It had been some time since they had done this last, since they had gotten caught up in classes and assignments from the Academy, but it didn't take long for them to find their pace, and begin to move faster. Make stepped closer to him, leaning her head against his shoulder. Due to the amount of times they had been dancing, she had gotten much better and didn't need to worry about stepping on his feet anymore. The music they danced to was the music of their souls resonating together. As they danced she felt Soul laughing and tilted her head to look up at him, "what is it Soul?" she asked quietly with her soft voice. He simply smiled at her and shook his head, saying nothing. To this she sighed but shrugged and laid her head back on his shoulder.
They stayed dancing like this for a long time, each loving the embrace of the other, but neither wanting to admit it to each a bit more Soul stopped and pulled away, but left his hands holding her close. Maka looked into his eyes, her head tilting slightly with curiosity and confusion about why he had stopped them so abruptly. Before she could speak he leaned in slowly as she stared into his eyes, then she felt it. His soft lips pressed firmly, but carefully, against her own. She couldn't help herself and her arms locked around Soul to hold him close, as she returned the kiss. They held it for a long moment before Soul pulled away and hugged her tightly against his chest, leaning her head on his shoulder once more. He smiled and kissed her cheek, just next to her ear, then softly breathed out, "I love you Maka."
