"Primrose Everdeen" In that moment the whole world stood still. It couldn't be me, this was only my first year, Katniss had promised that I wouldn't get picked. The tears start to rush to my eyes and fall down my face. I take a step into the aisle and make my way to the stage. iI feel every eye turn to look at me and somewhere far out in the crowd I hear someone let out a cry. I'm fairly sure that it's Katniss. I feel like I am in a dream as I walk up the steps to the stage. Effie Trinket looks at me with a combination of annoyance and pity. She know that I have no chance to survive, and it will reflect poorly on her.

I turn and face the huge crowd in front of the stage, most of the people in the crowd have a stone cold look on their face the way they always do when someone young is called. Effie is pulling the next name from the bowl. But I barely notice her, because all I can see in the crowd is Katniss. She's crying, Katniss never cries, she's the strong one in are family, the one that keeps us from starving, the one that kept us out of the orphanage after our father died. Another tear runs down my cheek. Right now I need to be like Katniss, if she were up her she wouldn't be crying, she would be brave, she would be trying to figure out how she could survive. I bring my hand up to the mockingjay pin that she gave me earlier. I need the be brave like her. And I try my hardest to keep the tears from falling down my face.

"Peeta Mellark." I recognize the boy, he's the one who gave Katniss the bread when we were starving. He's the one who saved us. He looks shocked as he slowly makes his way up to the stage. I'm barely able to keep myself from collapsing on the stage in tears, one of the tributes did that a few years ago. She died on the first day. When Peeta gets up to the stage both of us shake hands. I look into his eyes and see that he to is fighting back tears. "Now lets have a round of applause for our tributes!" says Effie.

Only a handful of people clap. Katniss is staring at me with a look of anger on her face, but I know that the anger is not directed at me but at the games and the capital. After that the Mayor reads the Treaty of , who is the only living victor from district 12, Starts laughing hysterically and falls of the stage. He's more than likely drunk. Katniss would occasionally take me to the hob with her and he would always be their buying alcohol. I don't get to see Effie's or the crowds response to this because a group of peacekeepers are ushering us into the justice building to say our final goodbyes.
