DDG-151 Drabble Challenge
if you are a Last Ship fan and are on Facebook, there is a fan page called "The Last Ship DDG 151". It's a phenomenal and fun group of Last Ship addicts. We are killing the time until Season 4 with a series of Drabble and fic challenges. This is the first in my Drabble series. Each Drabble will stand alone, but I'll add "chapters" as the challenges are made and completed. A Drabble is a short fic, limited to 100 words. He thought he'd recover something - find some semblance of redemption in her death, but he hadn't.
He just felt soulless.
He didn't recognize himself. The face staring back from the mirror was different. Lifeless. Alien, somehow.
And now, everything seemed shadowed. Decisions, orders, judgments. His entire life whittled down to two choices. Both times, he'd been disastrously wrong.
Rachel, dead, when he should have lost control.
Allison, dead, when he should have kept it.
His own words haunted him - self-righteously raised to Rachel, Granderson, Ramsey, Peng, Meylan. . .
The truth was - he was no better than they.
Just more hollow.
