So this is for Troubador12's contest. I'm #3 and this is Category B.

"I'm Ali-steer Oh," said the small four year old, hugging his knees, sitting on the hard splintery, wood chair.

The room was ugly and small, but that was where Alistair had to be.

"What a horrid name! Something my brother would have come up with, of course," said a cold, sharp voice.

Alistair hugged his knees closer, tears streaming down his cheeks.

Daddy and Mommy were gone.

Daddy, who would come home and throw him into the air, then catch him. Then they would play hide and seek. Afterwards Daddy, Alistair, and Mommy would go under the willow tree in their backyard and eat dinner there. Daddy would talk about his day and Mommy would feed Alistair, who would giggle whenever Daddy made the funny noise of the cars honking.

They were gone. And he missed them.

Daddy was... killed.

Alistair remembered it very well, it was only yesterday.

The doorbell rang, Alistair ran from the kitchen toward it with Mommy.

"Daddy!" he cried gleefully as they through the door to the glamorous mansion open.

But it wasn't Daddy.

It was a different man. He didn't look like Daddy, or happy.

The man was bald, with thick rimmed glasses.

"Mrs. Oh," the man started saying. "I have some news for you that I deeply regret." The man took a deep breath. "Gordon Oh was killed yesterday. Here," he gave her the telgram with the info.

"Daddy... Gone?" Alistair said, his lip trembling. His heart sank. Daddy wasn't here. Maybe he would never come back. He started to cry.

read the letter then looked up. She dropped the letter, which slowly fell to the ground. She put her slender hand over her heart.

"Mrs. Oh?" asked the man, his eyes widening as she started to turn pale.

Suddenly, she started turning blue. "Gone," she whispered, and collapsed.

"Mommy!" screamed Alistair.

No. It couldn't be happening.

"Call the hospital!" screamed the man.

Bae Oh came into the room, looking around. Then his eyes set on Alistair.

"Ah, the ugliest item in the room." He marched over, and took a fistful of Alistair's shoulder length hair. "You look like a girl, do you know that? Funny, I was expecting a boy."

"I-I am a boy," Alistair protested.

"Then cut your horrid hair!" screeched Bae. He took out a pair of pocket scissors and snapped off a chunk.

Alistair burst into tears.

Bae slapped Alistair. "I will have no crying!" he came in closer. "Now tell me, which branch are you from?"

"Branch?" asked Alistair, confused.

"You are an idiot!" screeched Bae. "You and your father! He should have told you but no! Iidot!"

Alistair reached for Blue Bunny, right next to him. Blue Bunny gave him comfort, he was the only thing that Alistair had brought. Blue Bunny was his only comfort now, since everyone was gone.

Bae snatched it from him. He glanced at it, Blue Bunny had a mismatched patch on the year and a couple of threads loose on the toes. The other ear seemed to be partially chewed up. Bae gave a look of disgust then threw it in the trash can.

"You are an Ekatrina. A descendant of Katherine Cahill. Understand?"

Alistair nodded, but truthfully, he didn't understand anything. He did not want to be insulted though.

"You are to live with me, until you are old enough to understand things. I will be your tutor, because no one can teach such an idiotic mind like you except for me." Bae hoisted the trash can with Blue Bunny, onto his hip. "I hope you hate this room, because it's yours," he marched out.

Alistair looked around, a bed with no mattress and a chair.

"Daddy, why did you go?" whispered Alistair. "I miss you Mommy and Daddy." He started to cry freely, hugging his knees even tighter, until he felt like he was going to explode.

It was a nightmare.

"Mommy. Daddy."

Isn't it sad? I cried. Anyway yeah so vote for me! Woohoo!
