Dean is 18, Sam just turned 14, Lizzie is 7
Dean had just finished high school and now his father was determined that he could now be full on with the hunts. His father, Sam, or Lizzie did not know it but he had got accepted to a college in California. He loved hunting but he was also determined to have a somewhat of a normal life of his own one day. He wanted to go to school and become a lawyer. Sam was a lot more focused on the hunts then Dean was. Lizzie had just learned of what they do and was still pretty new about the hunting life. Sam was more like his father and was the one that was always excited to train or go on hunts. Dean however liked going on hunts but he was at the age now where he wanted to do something else with his life. He wanted to get out of the supernatural hunting life and try living a normal life on his own. Right after his graduation about a week later he had gotten an acceptance letter to Stanford. He had not told his family because they knew that they would not take it well. Ever since his mother died his father was determined to find what killed her and he didn't need distractions like this that were to take his help away from him. His father was now more determined now than ever to get him into hunting because his other two children where still in school and Dean could hunt full time now.
That summer they had gotten a good lead on hunt involving a wendigo up in Minnesota. They were about two hours from the site when they stopped at a local forestry to fill out the forms on getting a campsite for a few days. Sam was trying to entertain Lizzie while Dean and John set up camp. Sam was very excited about hunting a wendigo because he had just recently learned how to kill them. Lizzie may have known what her family does but was not allowed to do anything. She was made to stay in the car, at the motel, or in this case she would be staying at camp the entire time. She was not allowed to go anywhere with out any of the guys.
It was getting late and John knew that they would not be able to do any tracking during the night so they decided to settle in for the night. Dean was in the tent reading a pamphlet he had managed to sneak away into his bag when Lizzie came barging in. "Hey Dean what are you reading?" Lizzie asked as she sat down next to Dean. "It's just a pamphlet about schools, nothing important shouldn't you be getting ready for bed." Dean said. "But I'm not sleepy." Lizzie said as she yawned. "Really then why did you just give a yawn." Dean said. Lizzie just shrugged her shoulders and just snuggled closer to him. "Alright squirt time for bed." Dean said.
The next day John and Dean were set out to find a good track lead on the wendigo while Sam was made to stay behind and watch out for Lizzie. "Aw dad, but I really want to come, I just learned about how to kill them." Sam said. "He can take my place" thought Dean. "Son, you know that Lizzie is not old enough just yet to stay at a camp site on her own and I need someone to stay behind and look after her." John said. Dean was about to argue about him staying behind when John said that there was no objection about it and that they would be back in a couple of hours.
