Author's Note: This is where I will post any short, mostly unedited drabbles (350 words or less) I may write for the HPFC forum that take place in the Potion Shop series.

The first one was written for Aenaris and Azure Delta for a drabble exchange in the 3rd anniversary party. It takes place in the Marauders' seventh year. Pairings: Implied James/Lily, unrequited Sirius/James.

Desire

Sirius had known desire. He crushed on Remus once, in third year, although he didn't realize it was a crush at the time, because it hadn't occurred to him that a boy could have crushes on other boys. He'd wanted boys from other houses, like Owen Warner from Hufflepuff (and wouldn't it have been nice to date a Muggleborn? He'd make his parents so proud). He even had a brief longing for his brother's best friend, Evan Rosier, but Rosier was a Slytherin, so he brought himself out of that as quickly as possible.

Never had he realized that desire could include his best friend.

"Oi, Sirius, did you ever finish that assignment for Slughorn?" James asked, tossing a Potions book across his bed to Sirius's. "You can have that back, by the way, I found my copy again. Left it in the girls' dorm by mistake."

"You got into the girls' dorm?" Sirius felt his emotions warring between impressed (James really could be quite clever) and jealous (why did he have to date a stupid girl?). "How?"

"Apparently all it really takes is a girl letting you in." James gave a conspiratorial grin. "But if another girl sees you and doesn't want you there, it kicks you out again. Marlene and Lily had a big row trying to decide if I was allowed up there or not. I went down the slide about six times!"

Sirius shook his head and tried on a smile. James rarely noticed the difference between his real smiles and his fake ones; he was too busy thinking about Lily to care whether his best friend was truly happy for him. "That's something, mate. That's really something."

"Probably lucky for you that you'll never have to worry about that, eh?" James continued, grinning across his bed at Sirius. They were both sitting on the floor next to their beds. Sirius could just see James's bright hazel eyes. "You can go into any bloke's room you please."

"Yeah," said Sirius, with a sinking feeling in his stomach. "Lucky for me."
