Exile: A Slightly Long Intro
Time Lords... An almost extinct species in this universe. There are supposedly only 4 left. The Doctor, The Master, my brother Derekan, and myself. I don't have a name yet, or I just don't want a name... I'm not quite sure; for now, though, you can call me Au.
Nice letters. They're probably my favourites. I hear they're the symbol for the element Gold on Earth's Periodic Table of Elements. Gold's nice, but I just want Au.
Anyway, I bet you want to know my story. Well, it began a while ago. At least 600 years at maximum. My brother was on his 2nd regeneration; I on my 1st.
We both were well-known for causing trouble. No one apprehended us, however, because we were the last pair of identical twins on Gallifrey. Derekan and I even had our own system of causing chaos.
He'd run through the streets, and scream things like, "Help! Help! It's attacking me!"
Then I'd come in. I'm usually quite light on my feet, and I was usually the one dressed as the thing. I used my own idea for an alien; Gene-Absorber, I called it.
The idea was that it could touch anything of a species other than it's own, and could absorb it's DNA structure. Then, it could shape-shift.
When I heard my cue, I used the hologram-emitter to make it look like I was morphing into a patchwork creature. After that, I'd pounce my brother.
When the people caught on, they'd then pull us off of each other. We'd laugh and run off, no harm done. Until we decided to pull that with the High Council.
Long story short, it went wrong and we had 2 options: Leave Gallifrey, or be executed. It seemed like all hope was lost when there were no vessels left to leave Gallifrey. Except for 1.
The Doctor was being exiled as well. What he did, I'm not sure. But Derekan and I took the opportunity to sneak aboard his Type 40 Mark 1 TARDIS. A not entirely trustworthy way to travel, but it would still keep us alive.
When I mentioned the idea to my brother, I could've sworn he jumped out of his skin. "The idea," he'd whispered, "yes. I think I see him over there. Come on!"
The 10 minutes that were wasted running over to his TARDIS- and grabbing onto the back as it was teleporting- felt like a lifetime. I could've sworn I lost a life in panic as I clung to the side of the TARDIS and to Derekan's hand.
Let me tell you this: a time and space vortex is both beautiful and terrifying at the same time. You can't help but stare in awe at the swirling colours, and shriek as it feels like your atoms have been separated and flung about everywhere.
And then, we landed. It was on a planet called Earth, I believe. I let go, and just fell onto the ground. Earth has grass, but not like the deep red hues that are the norm to Time Lords. Earth's grass is a nice shade of green.
I had always liked green. It reminded me of new things. Like Earth's grass. It had droplets of water stuck to the blades, and lying on it felt like a new beginning.
I assumed it must have been what regenerating felt like. All of the stress and worry from the previous body melting away, and a fresh, blank slate all set. That's what just lying in the grass felt like all those years ago.
Look at me, here I am burbling on about lying in the grass. It's not like you have to waste your time listening to me. You can leave now, if you like.
But if you don't want to, I suppose I can give you this. It's the story I've briefly described to you, except it's in a proper format. Please, take it. It may just make either more sense or more nonsense. Either way, take it. I insist you do.
