It was as if time slowed. She stood there not knowing what was going on as she started at the automatron that held her brother fighting to free himself. If only Will had been a second quicker maybe he could have saved her. But no Tessa was dead and it was all his fault.

"Tessa," He said "Tess you need to wake up," Will said again holding her limp body in his arms. Metal from the blast tore through her just like it did Nate.

"Will! Tessa!" Jem called coming toward them as fast as he could. "What happened?" he asked looking at Will holding Tessa.

"I wasn't fast enough," Will said his voice wavering.

"No," Jem said crouching next to them. "Tessa. My Tessa," he whispered.

Will looked at Jem as his parabeti tried hard not to cry. "James?" Will said putting a hand on his friends shoulder. "Are you alright?" he asked.

"No I'm not alright Will," Jem said. "She's gone I can't believe she's gone," He said looking away as if trying to hide his tears from Tessa herself.

"Will, Jem," Charlotte said then let out a gasp and saw the dead girl lying Will's arms. "Oh my," she said then turned away Henry wrapping his arms around his wife. Even though it was not the most proper thing to do she needed him.

Will looked at everyone who showed their emotions freely sat there and looked down at Tessa lying still in his arms it was all his fault apparently he had not pushed her away enough that this was his curse at work. "I'm so sorry," Will whispered. "I am so sorry," he said aging and held her close as if holding her would bring her back. " And yet I have had the weakness, and have still the weakness, to wish you to know with what a sudden mastery you kindled me, heap of ashes that I am, into fire." Will quoted.

Jem watched Will as he held Tessa the way one would hold a lost lover as he watched his friend realization dawned on him. Will just like he had fallen in love with Tessa.

"We should go," Will said in a shallow voice standing up not letting go of Tessa.

"Will?" Charlotte said. "Are you sure,"

"Yes now shall we go there is still much to do," Will said walking back.

"He loved her," Jem said.

"Yes it seems so," Henry said watching Will walk away.

"We all cared for her," Charlotte said. "But Will is right we need to get going,"

"We just weren't fast enough," Jem said then got up and left.
