Nino couldn't help the way his eyes caught on the red bottomed hair of a girl that he'd spent so long growing up with, learning to memorize like she was just another song of his between work on the farm.
Alya was all smiles as she leaned against Marinette and looked out across the stadium, "Do you think that there will ever be more to report about than some small game?" Alya dreamed of the city where she didn't swing by every sports game or help Nino out with his family's horses that always listened better to her anyway.
She somehow managed to have any horse listening to her touch and hearing her voice; she'd been riding since she was three after all, and her family had specialized in raising animals, cattle and horses mostly between her mom's small cafe and everything else. Alya though just wanted a story, and a small town wasn't giving her the one that she wanted.
"There's a whole world out there." Marinette muttered, smiling at her, "But I don't mind this so much." Her ringed finger slipped out of sight when her other hand rested over it. That promise ring was so much more to Adrien and Marinette than either of them would have ever admitted, but Nino wasn't going to say all that much about it. Adrien had him sworn to secrecy anyway, and Nino couldn't help as he stood up to cheer with the rest of the crowd around them.
Adrien had somehow managed with how fast and agile he was to score the winning touchdown, just as time became far too short, and Nino smiled when he saw the rest of the team congratulate their star player.
He barely got away to make his way up the stands, throwing his arms around Marinette, smile lighting up his face, looking worn and haggard but thankful for everything.
Nino wasn't sure just how they managed to be lucky enough to meet this sunshine child and have him as a friend, but he just wished that he could say words that could get Alya to look at him even with half the intensity that Marinette looked at Adrien.
"That sucked." Alya leaned against his side and gave him what he'd call a smirk, "I kind of missed this, don't know why." She pressed closer against his side as they looked on and saw Adrien and Marinette held in a very close dance, "They don't take long to tie their knots, do they? But, they have their own story."
"Did you take the internship?" Nino couldn't help the spark of almost jealousy that lit up in his chest; Adrien and Marinette looked so happy and in love, and yet Alya still pulled Nino half along beside her.
"Yeah." Alya glanced back over toward him, "Besides the city doesn't hold as fast to me as this old place does."
Nino had no idea what expression lit up his face, but he was just glad that she was staying next to him.
"Sorry about the DJing gig." Alya sighed, and Nino remembered it like a reopening of an old wound, but he'd be fine. His family came first, and when he'd gotten the call that he'd had to come back home and prepare to take over the farm, he'd taken it, leaving his age old dreams in the dust for small parties and school dances between managing to work on the farm all day.
"It's fine. You didn't have to move back." Nino admitted; he'd never want to force her into anything, but he couldn't help how warmth lit up his chest at the thought of the girl that he'd always loved moving back home.
"I want to. My first job is reporting on two of my best friends' wedding, and I was kind of wondering if you'd ever considered what your future would be like." She leaned against his side.
"Not that much." Nino muttered, unsure as he always was if he could ever tell her of his dreams for his future when they involved her so much.
"Not enough to consider letting an old friend in?" It was the smile on her face that did it with the warm spark in her eyes, and he knew that his luck had finally grown with her love and endearment.
