Bingo Number (77) {Character} Fred
A deep breath was released from behind the two girls; and then a deep voice; "Girls."
Betty looked behind her shoulder and looked at him. "Hello Mr. Andrews." She spoke in a friendly voice.
Veronica stiffened but she refused to move away from Betty. She looked up as she heard Mr. Andrews move to stand in front of them. "Mr. Andrews." She camly nodded her head up at the older man.
"I haven't seen you much Betty." Fred looked down into Betty's downcast eyes.
Veronica gently tightened her hold against Betty's waist.
Betty stiffened as she formed her answer before speaking. Her eyes lowered.
"May I sit?" Fred waited for an answer.
"I don't feel that is best Mr. Andrews." Veronica spoke in a formal tone.
Betty's eyes lifted. "Please do sir." She watched as Archie's father sat down on the grass across from them. "I'm sorry that I have been avoiding you for the past few weeks. It's just …."
"You don't have to explain Betty. I understand." Fred looked into Veronica's eyes. "Believe it or not I do understand." He turned to look into Betty's eyes once more. "I just miss seeing you and all. After all I have watched and helped you grow up little one. I hope that as soon as Archie is truly okay with this that I'll be seeing you again."
Veronica began to relax as she heard Fred not truly blaming Betty for hurting Archie. He wasn't the enemy that she thought he was. Now she fully knew that she was still in Fred Andrew's doghouse … but that was all right … just as long as Betty no longer was.
Betty silently nodded as she rested her head on Veronica's shoulder.
Fred's eyes drifted over to meet Veronica's once more. "How are you Veronica?" He calmly asked.
"I'm fine." Veronica sighed out.
Fred nodded. "I don't blame you Veronica for this. I always knew that your heart and soul belonged to Betty here. But I knew you did have some attraction for my son. I knew that if you ever were going to date Archie; that the moment that Betty was ready for you … then you would be with her." He smiled softly. "I know somewhere deep in Archie's soul he knew this too. But I also know my son. He did feel deeply for you; and he needs this time to process everything … then he'll be ready to move to find his true soul mate."
Veronica' sadly smiled. "I wish that I didn't have to hurt Archie so much." His eyes lowered. "I shouldn't have dated him. I shouldn't have let him think that he actually had a chance with me." Her eyes lifted. "I allowed the old Veronica Lodge back in. In order to hurt that one last person."
Betty's head lifted as she looked at her girlfriend. Her right hand rose to gently cup the bottom of Veronica's chin in her hand. She gently turned it so Veronica's eyes could met her's. "Ronnie I want you to listen to me very carefully here. Old Veronica Lodge was no where near your relationship with Archie."
Tears sparkled in her eyes. "Betty no. Don't lie to me. Just don't okay. I can handle the wake of Old Veronica." Her eyes lowered. "It's just I'm truly sorry for hurting Archie. He never deserved it."
Fred silently watched the two girls. He knew that Veronica had her demons to battle. That those demons would always be there for her to battle … no matter how much Betty can help soften Veronica. Just as Betty's demons would aways battle her no matter how much Veronica is there to protect her. That's the way with peoples demons.
