Beep. Beep. Beep. Beeeeeeeee---
"Ugh." She hit snooze and went back to sleep.

ELLO MOTO! dada dada…
"Hello?"
"Kagome! Where are you?! We were supposed to meet for coffee, remember?"
"Shit. I'm so sorry, Sango, I overslept." Kagome sat up slowly and rubbed her eyes. "If you stay there for a few more minutes, I swear I'll be there. I'll buy, too, if it'll make it up to you."
She sighed. "Fine, but I swear if this happens again I'm going to--"
"Sango. Give me…" She glanced at her clock as she searched through her closet for a shirt. "…twenty minutes. Bye."
Kagome snapped her Razor phone shut and threw it on her bed, quickly rushing to the bathroom and showering.
In fifteen minutes, she was throwing on a random pair of boots that almost matched her skinny jeans and blue tank top. She hastily stuffed the ends of her jeans into her tan boots, grabbed her purse and phone, and ran out of her apartment.

"Hey! TAXI!" The petite brunette screamed at a passing car. Kagome checked her phone. "Shit."
She started running to the subway and sprinted as best as she could to the train whose doors were shutting. A hand held the doors open for her and she looked up at it's owner to thank him/her.
A boy about her age smiled down at her. "Running late?"
She laughed nervously and ran a hand through her hair. "Yeah."
She looked around the train briefly, acutely aware that the boy's chocolate eyes were staring at the back of her head. Her phone rang.
Sango.
"I'm almost there, I promise!" Kagome exclaimed, hanging up the phone and not even letting her friend a chance to speak.
"I'll bet your friend isn't very happy that you're late for coffee." The boy said.
Kagome's eyes widened slightly and turned to face him. She opened her mouth to retort, but at that moment the train jerked to a stop. Her stop. She gave the boy a strange look and rushed off the train.
She turned around just as the train started to move, immediately noticing the boy's eyes still boring into hers.

"I'm here!" Kagome held her arms out in greeting.
"About time…" Sango's magenta eyes flickered upwards as she slammed her book shut. "How on earth you're a reporter and oversleep is something I will never understand."
Kagome dropped her purse on the table and plopped herself down. She ordered her regular (venti frapaccino with whipped cream) and sighed. "I have no idea, Sango."

"Higurashi!" Hojo yelled across the room, running towards her with a manila envelope. "Here's your story for next moth's issue. Boss told me to give it to you."
Kagome smiled politely. "Thank you, Hojo." She turned back to her computer and re-read the article on the screen.
Hojo coughed. "Um…Kagome? How about we have dinner sometime? Tomorrow, maybe?"
Kagome grimaced. She liked Hojo and all, just not in a romantic way. "Uh…sure, Hojo. Tomorrow sounds fine."
He smiled brightly and briskly walked in the direction he came from. Kagome made a face and turned to the envelope he gave her. Careful not to cut herself, she opened it and read her assignment.

"So you have to--"
"--Observe the subways for a week, and write about it." Kagome finished for her friend.
"That's so boring!" Ayame exclaimed. Kagome nodded in agreement.
This is going to be LOADS of fun…
