"Hang on." Jack held Ianto close to his bare chest as he rose up a little; something had been digging into his back. He pulled out his lover's stopwatch then settled back into place. "Well, hello there," he said with a small smirk.
Ianto plucked the stopwatch from between Jack's fingers and let it drop softly to the ground next to the bed in the bunker. "Try to inot/i break that, Jack," he said, trying to sound stern but the smile that showed told a different story. "I wouldn't be able to get another."
"It's just a Fob watch." Jack rolled his blue eyes playfully then cried out when he was jabbed in the side. "What was that for?" he laughed, reaching down to squeeze Ianto's bum.
It had grown cold by now, so Ianto pulled the blanket over them as he shifted to lie next to Jack on the bed. "It's not ijust/i a Fob watch," he answered, resting his head on Jack's shoulder as he was pulled closer to the other man. "It's…special."
They laid in silence until Jack couldn't take it any longer; the curiosity was too much. "Who gave it to you?"
Ianto was quiet; Jack thought he might have fallen asleep until he felt him inhale deeply. "Lisa," he said quietly then rolled away from Jack so he was now facing the concrete wall that made up the bunker.
Lisa Hallett was still a touchy subject with everyone at the Hub. The others still felt betrayed by Ianto's secret and the Welsh man was still pained over the loss.
Not really in the mood to ruin the moment, Jack pulled Ianto back to his chest so the lengths of the bodies were pressed together. "She gave you a iwatch/i?" he asked, a hint of laughter in his voice. He hoped that it would make the other man smile and, when he spoke, he knew that it had.
"Yes," Ianto said with a grin, lightly pinching the back the hand around his waist. "It was a birthday gift." He closed his eyes as he thought about that day, remembering the small party the two of them had to celebrate. "I had been looking at it for a few weeks and then it disappeared from the shop window. I didn't tell Lisa about it, so I was surprised when I saw it in the little box she'd given to me."
Jack listened to him reminisce quietly, knowing that this was what he needed. Her death had hit Ianto really hard, and he had been so quiet when he came back to the Hub. Jack knew what it was like to lose someone you loved. He just needed someone he could talk to. Although they were together, they weren't itogether/i. They weren't close enough to talk about things like this. But, it was times like this, when they were cuddling in the warm afterglow, when it actually felt like they were a couple.
To stop that thought in its tracks, Jack reached his hand just below Ianto's waist and gave him a little squeeze. The other man gasped lightly in surprise then let out a small moan as he moved slowly.
A few hours later, when Jack had finally fallen asleep, Ianto reached over to grab the stopwatch from the ground. "Thank you, Lisa," he whispered, slipping the watch into the pocket of his jacket, which had been tossed at the foot of the bed before. He looked down at Jack as he snored softly, smiling fondly. "And, thank you, Jack." As he laid down on the bed, Jack pulled him close in his sleep and gave a satisfied sigh with a smile.
