Disclaimer: I do not own any of the "His Dark Materials" trilogy. I do own any oc's that appear and I also own the plot.

It had been a long seven years since the day Lyra and Will had been forced to say goodbye. But Lyra had spent the years wisely, studying the powers of what we call "imagination". She knew she was ready, the alethiometer agreed, and tonight was the night she would see Will again. She went to bed to rest, her and Pan would need all of their energy if this was to work.

oOo

Kirjava lay in Will's lap. He ran his thumb round the back of her right ear, the heal of his hand resting lightly on the back of her head. He thought of how things had changed since he and Lyra had said goodbye. Dr. Malone had given him a job in her research lab, his mother was getting better, the only thing missing was Lyra. They where so close now, Will and Lyra, sitting on the bench.

Will thought he saw something move in the distance. Their was a mirage in the centre of the garden, faint at first, then more obvious. It would vanish, then come back stronger. Will and Kirjava stared at it in puzzlement, and for a second he thought he saw... no, he was tired, his eyes where playing tricks on him. They rose (or in Kirjava's case, leapt) from the bench and turned to leave when a two voices behind them, one male, one female called "Will, Kirjava!"

Will turned in time to catch Lyra as she passed out.

Sorry its so short, it will get longer, promice. I will post more when i can.
