Disclaimer: I don't own Terra, Beast Boy or any of the Teen Titans.
Author notes: This story was inspired by the song Marvelous Light by Charlie Hall, which it was named for. I can't use the lyrics in the story here, because (1) it's a song about Jesus and doesn't really fit for that reason, and (2) this site doesn't allow song lyrics in your stories unless you wrote them. So just google the lyrics if you want them. This was originally written for a romance challenge, but I deleted those. Now I'm going back and reposting the best ones separately. The prompt for this one was "Song".
The sun shone brightly that morning, the light filtering through the windows of the tower. Terra stood, soaking it all in. It had been so long since she had the ability to feel warmth, or anything else for that matter. She didn't want to miss a moment of it.
Today was so symbolic of her current circumstances. When she had first met the Teen Titans, she was in a state of confusion. She wanted so desperately to control her powers, to finally be whole and lovable. But everywhere she went, her power caused destruction and she ran in shame, again a stranger in a foreign land.
The Titans likewise learned her horrible secret, and once again, she ran. She ran here and there, making friends, then losing them due to her lack of control. After many weeks of the same, she thought back on the words of Slade. He seemed to be the only one who accepted her as she was. He wanted to help her, or so she thought. She had been deceived. He wanted something in return, and she felt obligated to comply. It was a decision that pulled her into darkness, far from the love she had sought to possess.
But Beast Boy never gave up hope. He always knew she had a choice, and he'd tried to tell her so many times. He never stopped trying. He gave her the courage to fight Slade and finally take control of her powers and her destiny. He had pulled her from the darkness into the light, and today had awakened her from her stony prison.
"Nice day."
Terra didn't turn around, but kept her eyes closed, her face toward the sky.
"Yeah. Sure is."
She felt his arms wrap around he waist and placed her hands on his, leaning into him. They stood there, letting the marvelous light of the morning wash over them.
