Sorry. I'm rubbish at naming things⦠Give me suggestions. Also, tell me if I missed any mistakes. I checked over twice, but, I thought it was ridiculously short to go track down a beta for. Lalala
Tosh shifted uncomfortably, over and over at her desk. The sound was starting to grate on Gwen's ears, Owen could tell, by the way she would furrow her brow every time Tosh changed position.
"You okay Tosh?" Owen asked with more than mild concern in his voice.
"Fine, fine. Just, this baby thinks that my liver is a pillow." She cast him an uneasy grin and rubbed the organ her fetus was disrupting.
"That's your spleen." She looked down, surprised and realized which side was left.
"A recent neurology study showed that women pregnant or lactating have a harder time with computations." She offered. She prayed to six gods she didn't believe in that the rift would spasm.
"The same one that said women pregnant or lactating take more risks." Owen pointed out, which made Tosh chuckle.
Tosh's work when uninhibited by her situation, but, the latter was true, as last week Jack got a harsh (Though not totally undeserved) punch in the gut.
"Good thing he doesn't bruise." Tosh said, "Or fire people easily. Except you, you kind of have a record. We should get you a plaque!"
Owen opened his mouth to say something snarky but was cut off by a sudden look of extreme surprise spreading over Tosh's face.
"Is everything alright?"
"Baby's kicking. You want to feel?" A look of elation crossed Owen's features before he realized he couldn't, "Oh my God, I'm sorry Owen."
"It's totally fine. I do the same all the time. I almost tried eating a handful of peanuts the other day."
It was obvious that his words were being brushed off in favor of new flutterings of life. While Tosh was enveloped, Owen came behind her and rested his hands on her shoulders.
"I'm sorry Tosh. I've been terrible, but, I want you to know that I'll do anything for our-"
"Daughter," She said, returning her attention to him.
"Wow." Tosh started laughing whole heartedly.
"You know you are going to be the worst father in law." She said once she regained her breath.
"Oh you bet I am. Any boyfriend of hers will meet a fate worse than mine before he touches her."
"What if she turns out lesbian?" Tosh pointed out.
"Same thing."
She grinned at the void and felt his cold hands remove themselves from his shoulders, he slipped back down to his medical bay and her grin disappeared. How is it that they kept missing each other?
