The night was cold and still, police sirens still rang in your ears. A heist was planned tonight. At the art gallery in town. How had you found out? Through spying of course. It was your specialty.
A long nose poked holes in the icy fog blanketing the roof, which was pretty industrial looking and unbelievably, out of pedestrian's view. Tall, and handsome, he was a stylish rogue; and you loved it. You followed him day and night, protecting him on his many heists since he had left prison. Luke wasn't a bad person, just a bad egg. Desperate for the attention and acceptance of both his allies and his foes. He valued power. Craved it. It attracted you.
The pair of you had set up a kind of deal, he stole whatever priceless treasure he was after, you protected him. He didn't die, you received payment.
However, this had somewhat stretched beyond the workings of a platonic, professional relationship. You did a little more than just watch his back these days.
Stalking what appeared to be a security guard patrolling the roof for potential thieves, you were set to pounce. Readying your body, your knees bent slightly, taking all your weight and distributing it evenly, it allowed you to calculate a proper moment to strike. Suddenly, your planning had a dagger put through it, quite literally. Much to your surprise, you were looking at a dead body on the floor. Scanning it, a pair of expensive winkle pickers lay within your peripheral vision. There the man stood, effortlessy wiping his magnifying eyeglass. A smirk filled his face, you mirrored it.
"It appears the solution has been elegantly revealed to me" A lightheared hum escaped your mouth.
"Atmey, I had him"
"I know you had him, I just silenced him for you"
"You got the painting?"
He didn't even need to say anything. Revealing a huge original of the Mona Lisa, your eyes widened, as did his bright smile.
"It's even more gorgeous in person"
"Not as gorgeous as the stack of money we're going to have on our desk by tomorrow"
As he turned to walk away, you grabbed him by his arm, startling him. Meeting your eyes, filled with wonder and burning lust, he focused all of his attention on you, the way an Ace Detective should.
"Why don't we keep this one for the wall?"
