The Books End
By Silvernightphoenix
"It had been a beautiful day; the type in which young lovers would sneak off to enjoy each others company. None in my small group even thought of the possibility that we would end up fighting for our lives and for the protection of the world. That was until we heard the thundering of charging demons, their weapons raised high in the air and the sky above them turned black and red with poison. My group quickly took up their arms and charged hoping to keep the majority of the battle as far away from the small village as possible.
It was strange for when we came into sight of the demon army they stopped as if waiting for a signal of some kind. My companions and I stopped as well. I'm not sure how long we stood like that, just the five of us staring down several hundred demons, but then Naraku arrived and all hell broke loose.
Inuyasha started the battle by charging the demons and letting loose one of his attacks from the sword made of his fathers fang. I fallowed close behind him with my own attack. Sango had jumped onto Kiraras back along with Miroku and where attacking from the air.
The battle was bloody and many lives where lost that day all due to a power struggle between two half-demons for a worthless jewel. I remember vividly the aftermath of the battle. The land was covered with charred bodies, some where dissembled, others had been mutilated until you couldn't even tell they where once bodies and body parts; the ground hungrily drinking the spilt blood and forever turning the soil red.
We had finally finished the quest I had started but at a devastating price for only I and one other from my small group had survived the devastation of the battle. The only reason shippou had survived was because he was not there. I had changed that day. For better or for worse is still unknown but I realized as I was covered in the blood of my enemies and my own that the earth hungers for blood, be it innocent or tainted, just as it hungers for the water."
Kagome read out loud as she reviewed what she had written. Smiling Kagome closed the now finished manuscript of her story A Feudal Tale. "Kagome come down stairs it's dinner time. Oh and Shippous here too." Kagomes mom yelled up at her. "Coming. Just a moment." Kagome yelled back as she gently slid her story into the manila envelop with the address to a book publisher on it. She looked over to the corner of her desk then and said, "It's finished, just as I promised you I would." With that Kagome turned her back to the picture of a half-demon, a monk, a demon slayer, a two tailed cat and a small fox kit. When Kagome left the room another copy of the manuscript she had yet to put into an envelop blew open to a page that said, "In memory of my dearest friends. May you live forever in my heart."
