Note:
This is my first FanFiction, and I'm not sure if there will be much
interest as I'm only 14 and still developing as an author.
Any feedback is appreciated; feel free to post constructive criticism as
I would love to hear what you think of my first chapter!
I have read many other author's fics and have tried to
incorporate as many of their styles
into my own work as well as using my own.
Thank you I hope you enjoy my twist on this story!

Disclaimer: JK Rowling owns Harry Potter and all of the characters, I'm just playing with her genius.
WHITE SHADOW
Chapter One – A New Beginning
Hermione Granger cringed to herself as her owl, Orion screeched loudly as she lifted his cage aboard the Hogwarts Express for the first time. The need to make a good impression made her conscious of her every breath and movement. She had been anticipating this day since before she could remember, and so far, everything lived up to her high expectations.
The bustling crowds of young witches and wizards sent a rush of nervous excitement through her body; she had never experienced such a rush of anxiety like the one she felt right at this moment.
Shoving her way through the groups of giggling witches lining the corridors, she made her way to the nearest empty compartment. After placing her trunks on the rack, she sat down, and pulled out her favourite book, Hogwarts: A History, which she had already read several times over. After flicking through a chapter or two, the door to her compartment slid open, revealing a slightly chubby, dark haired girl with piercing brown eyes and a dark skinned handsome boy, with an attractive smirk.
"Parkinson, Pansy. And you are?" The full-faced girl questioned.
"Hermione. Hermione Granger. Charmed, truly." She replied in an overconfident, slightly pompous tone.
"Any relative of Helena and Arios Granger?" she shot a quick look towards the dark boy behind her.
"My parents. You have heard of them, I presume? "
"Yes... our fathers have recently been corresponding by owl about business matters. I don't believe you have met Blaise yet as his own voice appears to have escaped him?" She said sarcastically, pushing the boy forward and taking the seat across from Hermione.
"Blaise Zabini. Pleasure to make your acquaintance" speaking for the first time since entering, reaching to place a kiss on the back of her hand causing her to blush faintly.
After exchanging formalities and discussing the houses they expected to be placed in (Slytherin, tradition throughout all of their pureblooded families, and the only worthy house in Hermione's opinion, although Ravenclaw had its virtues) the newly familiar first years drifted into silence as the train pulled out of Kings Cross.
After a few minutes of small talk, the booth doors slid open once more, only for a silver haired aristocratic looking boy to present himself, with two chunky first years hovering behind him. "Parkinson. Zabini. I see you have made a new friend already. Malfoy, Draco." Hermione took note of the way they all used their family names first, concluding they too intended to portray a good impression to their fellow first year students.
"Indeed your reputation precedes you. Hermione Granger." She remarked, somewhat discourteously, although her grin confirmed she intended it light-heartedly.
"Hmm. I'm sure you will fit in just fine with us." He sneered back mischievously as the rest of the party filed in.
Hermione couldn't help but agree. She had taken a shine to her new familiars.
