"This… this… this is a miracle! This is a real, intact, human hideout!" The pink bipedal organism looked around with wonder as she walked. Her companion, a similar being, was also just as mesmerized.
They had landed on the new planet bored out of their minds. Expecting just a normal scouting trip, the two were scanning a rock face for mineral content when it instead opened for them.
The tunnel that was revealed was aged. Using their portable flashlights, they inspected everything around them. The walls were perfectly smooth, unlike any of the other human ruins they had found. There was also no dust that they could see.
Walking for a few more moments, they finally came upon a symbol on the wall. It looked like a horizontally flattened, black hexagon, with a downward yellow strip hugging its lower half on each side. One of the organisms walked closer for a better look.
"Don't touch it," the other joked, waving her tentacles in a teasing manner.
Suddenly, the one who was trying for a closer look was lifted up into the air. Blue energy whirled around her. The bystander froze in surprise.
Still caught in mid-air, the floating organism writhed as it felt an invasion of her nervous system. Then, she heard and understood words in a language she had never known.
"Embrace… eternity."
And so, out of the ashes, the phoenix rises.
A/N: Just like Wrong Commander/And So Life Goes On, this is just to get this out of my brain to make room for my other stories.
It will NOT be regularly updated, if ever, until I have finished any of my other stories or abandon them.
