Hey, so this is sort of a remake of Emma and Thayer's reunion outside the bus station in "A kiss before Lying" I hope you guys like it.
"Ugh, thank you," Emma said in sarcasm as a rude old man shoves past her. This made her lose her balance and her old canvas backpack spilled over in the process. In a matter of seconds all of her belongings, including her cell phone, wallet, sketchbook and bus ticket were scattered all over the Bus Station loading deck.
Oh great now everything's on the ground. Just my luck, Emma thought to herself.
Emma quickly got down on her knees to pick up her belongings before they got lost in the wind.
"You missed this," there he was right in front of her, holding her bus ticket in his hand. It was Thayer, kneeling down on the ground right in front of her. He had a warm and apologetic expression on his face with his soft smile.
"What are you doing here?" Emma asked in shock and confusion.
"Ah, I checked the bus schedule. Figured I'd still be able to catch you." Thayer responded plainly and honestly as he held out his hand to help Emma of the sidewalk.
She grabbed it without hesitation. Thayer's hands were so gentle and accepting as he helped her up. She loosened her grip a bit as soon as they were up but Thayer continued to hold on to it firmly.
He took a deep breath and began, "Listen Emma, that girl you saw at my apartment is just a friend. We surf together but that's it."
His tone was honest and clear, and Emma had no doubt about he was telling the truth.
"Well why didn't you just tell me that?" Emma responded as she took in what the young Rybak had just said.
Thayer was still holding on to Emma's hand when he replied to her question.
"Because I can be hard-headed sometimes, but I also don't want to be one of those guys that let pride get in the way of what he really wants," Thayer prompted.
Emma was starting to put her thoughts in order of the situation. She wanted to ask him about what he had just said.
"What do you really want?" That was a simple question. Emma tried to be as straight forward as she could. There wasn't going to be any beating around the bush. She promised herself she wouldn't over think it.
"One question," Thayer stated, "Those messages you left about Sutton and the second woman at the motel… Did you come here because you want my help or because you want me?
Emma understood perfectly well why she came here, and there wasn't anything else to say but tell Thayer like it is. She understood neither one of them were playing any games here. This was an honest and true conversation.
Emma really appreciated this about Thayer. He was always straight forward with her. She owed it to him to return the favor.
"Both," Emma responded, "Thayer when you left, I- I didn't…" She never got to finish her sentence as Thayer interrupted her with his soft lips colliding onto hers. He pulled her closed and even though Thayer had caught Emma by surprise she accepted the kiss with passion.
They pulled apart for a brief moment to look at each other's happy faces but quickly pulled in together to continue their long awaited reunion.
Thayer's lips moved in sync with Emma's as his arms curled around her back. In response, Emma wrapped her arms around Thayer's neck as they continued to embrace each other's company.
"Emma?" Thayer whispered as they finally pulled apart for air.
"Yes?" Emma responded.
"Don't ever let me go again." Thayer told her as he wrapped his muscular arms around the one girl he loved, Emma Becker.
