Disclaimer: Not mine..(again I want to remind the people who do own the show that Christmas is not as far away as it seems...)
Feedback: Absolutely!! (The Bones reviewers are always the best!)
Author's Note:Hey, so this is just a random one-shot. I had to write this for creative writing ( before the pulled me out and told me I HAD to take latin 2 instead...) Srry, I'm still bitter. Alright so we were told to write an answer to the question "When is the sky?" and it could be a poem, essay, story, anything. All it had to do was answer the question. So I wrote this. I think it's ok for a school project. I don't think I would have ever thought about it if we hadn't been given that assignment so IDK. I guess it just feels wierd posting a school assignment..anyways enjoy..
When is the sky?
"When is the sky blue?" the little curly blonde haired boy asked his father.
"In the middle of the day," the handsome agent replied smiling at his curious son.
"Dr. Bones," Parker asked turning his chocolate brown gaze to his father's partner. "When is the sky red?"
"When the sun is just rising or the sun is just setting," the scientist told him, refraining from using the long scientific terms that Booth had warned her to stay away from. Booth gave her an approving smile before Parker asked his next question.
"When is the sky grey?" the boy asked looking back up at Booth.
"When it's raining," he said confidently. Brennan paused in her writing and glanced up at him. Booth shrugged, he knew she had more scientific answers than just "when it rains", but Parker was only four. He didn't need more than one answer.
"What's next?" Booth asked as Brennan.
"When is the sky many different colors?" she read.
"I know that one!" Parker told them jumping up and down. "When there is a rainbow in the sky!" Grinning at the younger Booth Brennan nodded. Parker sent her one of the famous "Booth boys" charm smiles and looked over her shoulder to see if there was another color.
"When is the sky black?" he asked looking up at the two adults.
"At night," they replied simultaneously. Smiling the two partners looked back down as Brennan wrote the final answer.
"That's it," she told them. Parker and Booth both frowned and looked over at the list. Sure enough the colors where all filled in.
"I don't want to leave," the little boy complained sending his father a pout.
"We promised if Bones if she helped us with your homework that we would leave her alone so she could finish her work, bud," Booth explained though he too looked reluctant to leave. Parker looked up at Temperance his brown eyes, identical in every way to his father's, pleading with her to change her mind.
"I have to get some work done Parker," Brennan tried to explain. The little boy reluctantly picked up his backpack and coat. Placing the sheet she handed him in his folder he quietly zipped it up and put his arms in the jacket that Booth was holding out for him.
"Bye Dr. Bones," he said quietly.
"Bye Bones," Booth told her every bit as depressed as his son was. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye Parker, Bye Booth," she said going back over to her desk and pulling up her unfinished e-mail. They only made it as far as the door before Booth turned around quickly.
"You want to go to the diner with us?" he asked. Both boys gave her their cutest looks and charm smiles in hopes that she would agree. She glanced at the e-mail and then up at them; her blue eyes showing indecision.
"I really need to finish this…" she began only to be cut off by Booth.
"You can always finish it tomorrow," he reminded her. After a split second she grabbed her coat and turned back to them.
"Who wants apple pie?"
