They had found her.

They had found her.
She could not believe they had found her. How could they even reach the twilight, let alone her? She had broken the mirror... There was no other path to the realm of the Twili!

But that didn't matter now. What mattered was that they had to go. They didn't understand the Shadow realm. They didn't know what it did to people. Sure, the Twili were happy, but they had been mostly born there or criminals sent from the Light realm. The two had no inkling of what harm could become those as selfless and pure as themselves. Did Ganon teach them nothing about this? Oh! If only Zant hadn't... But there was no use in regretting the past.

She sighed as she felt more than she heard Link mumble. The boy always talked in his sleep. Even in his wolf form. She always found it a pity that one could hardly make out what it was he was saying, she could have had so much fun teasing him with it otherwise. He had his arms tightly clasped around her waist. Even unconscious he didn't seem willing to lose her again.

As for the other one. She glared towards the Hyrulian Princess who was holding her shoulders firmly against her breast. Who would have thought the soft spoken Zelda, the one who seemed to prefer patiently waiting for an occasion over action, could have shown herself just as adamant as Link in wanting to find, and save, their common... Their common friend.

The thought sent a shiver through Midna's features. How could they still consider her a friend? She had been a companion of circumstance, she had willingly admitted that she had used them for her own selfish goals. She had purposely cut all bridges with them. To have them both so near to her, after such a crisis, made her feel vulnerable, reminded her all over again of what it was like to be an imp.

She wanted to scold them, to show them her authority as ruler of the twilight.
Instead, she smiled, as a lone tear slid down her face.

They knew her for who she was. That was enough.
