Original scene

It was getting dark. Daryl's back started to cramp from carrying Beth. Trying to ease his pain, Beth attempted to lean more on the ankle she had just twisted from escaping a herd of walkers. Just as the two were beginning to lose hope, it had started to rain. The groans and screeches of walkers closing in had gradually gotten louder. Daryl quickly scooped Beth off her feet and began to sprint across a cemetery to where he spotted an open door. The lights were dim, there was blankets and clean clothes folded in a nearby corner near the entrance.

"Wait here." Daryl had whispered as he gently set her down. He crept inside softly with his bow and arrow aimed straight ahead. It was quiet. There were no signs of struggle or intrusion. It was as if the house was immune to the apocalyptic world.

Suddenly, Daryl felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned around without hesitation, ready to launch his last arrow into his attacker. "Daryl it's me!" Beth said in one short breath as she jerked away from his aim. With a sigh of relief, he quickly lowered his weapon. "I thought I told you to wait outside." He said with frustration in his voice. "Come look at this." Beth replied as she turned away, without another word Daryl followed. He walked carefully behind Beth stumbling across the hall, it was then he realized what she wanted to show him. There was a cold body lying on the table in the center of the living room. Well-dressed in a suit and tie, as if he were being prepped for his funeral that had unfortunately never came. On the far end of the room there was food, medicine, and water. It was all organized very neatly. Almost like someone had expected their arrival.

After securing the house for the night, the two had gathered into the next room. Daryl collected pillows and blankets for Beth to rest while he guarded the house. "This doesn't feel right" Beth explained "I mean… there's food, water, medicine… it looks like this place has never even seen a walker… why would someone just up and leave? "

Before Beth could continue, there was a loud knock at the door. Frozen where they stood, Beth and Daryl could do nothing more than stare at the entrance. The knocking grew louder. With one swift move, Daryl turned off the lights and pulled Beth behind him. The knocking stopped. The world fell silent. The door knob began to shake. "Get out! It's a trap! They are coming!" The stranger on the other side exclaimed. Before they could react, there was a loud bang followed by a shriek.

Beth and Daryl grabbed their weapons and darted to the back door. When Daryl swung the door open, he saw hundreds of bodies lying motionless. He looked back at Beth, with concern in her eyes, he shook off his fear and continued to move. Gun fire could be heard in the distance. Daryl grasped Beth's hand tighter. He then stopped running, causing Beth to bump into him head first. "Stay here." He said. "I will lead them away, and I will come back for you. Stay hidden." He handed her his knife from under his belt. Before he turned to leave, Beth grabbed his arm tightly. It was too late. A group of men had surrounded the two within seconds.
