Magic
Ling Xiaoyu released a heavy sigh in a gloomy and downcast manner. She sat in the grass underneath a tree, picking at some shrimp dumplings that her friend, Miharu Hirano, had prepared a few hours ago. It had been a gift and Xiaoyu was grateful to take it. Now, however, her stomach did not wish to have anything in it.
She was very unhappy.
Earlier that day, Xiaoyu had asked Jin Kazama if he had wanted to go to an amusement park with her, but he had instantly declined her suggestion. Next, she had asked if he wanted to have lunch with her and he declined after some hesitation. Lastly, the Chinese girl had asked if he had wanted to take a walk with her and he immediately told her that he had more important things to be doing that she could not comprehend.
That had made her really sad. She also felt embarrassed and pretty incompetent inside. Of course. She ruminated forlornly. He has more important things to be doing than to be spending time with silly, childish me.
"What's up with you?"
Xiaoyu squeaked in surprise at the new voice, tilting her head back to look up into the face of none other than Hwoarang, Jin's rival. The female let out a whoosh of breath, placing a hand over her heart.
"Hwoarang…what do you want?" Xiaoyu wanted to know, frowning. She just wanted to be alone.
"I asked you a question first," Hwoarang retorted, plopping down onto the grass beside her and eyeing her uneaten shrimp dumplings, famished. "And are you going to eat that?"
"No…" Xiaoyu handed him the box of shrimp dumplings sullenly.
Hwoarang gave her a nod of appreciation before taking it from her. He devoured all of the shrimp dumplings in five minutes. When he was through, he sighed in contentment.
"That was good." He remarked.
"Glad you enjoyed it…" Xiaoyu mumbled, pulling her knees up to her chest and wrapping her arms around them. When her actions were completed, she allowed her head to rest on her knees.
Hwoarang asked again, "So what's up with you?"
"Jin." Xiaoyu replied simply.
"Kazama's still ignoring your feelings, huh?" Hwoarang commented, shaking his head. "He should be taught a lesson. Oh, that reminds me, he still owes me a rematch!"
Xiaoyu did not respond.
Hwoarang looked at the girl beside him. He watched her sad face for a few seconds and then queried, "Do you want to see some magic?"
This piqued Xiaoyu's interest. "Hmm?"
"Close your eyes." Hwoarang commanded.
The female hesitated before complying with his wishes. She didn't know why, but she was beginning to feel a bit nervous and jittery.
Suddenly, out of the complete and stunning blue, Xiaoyu felt a pair of warm lips against hers, kissing her own softly and briefly. Her mind went haywire and she had no idea of what to think, but kept her eyes shut tight.
The kiss wasn't that long.
Before she knew it, Hwoarang's lips were gone and hers were cold again. Xiaoyu opened her eyes and Hwoarang was now standing, hands in his pockets. He was staring at her in mild amusement.
"Do you feel better?" The male asked her curiously, wonderingly.
Xiaoyu could do nothing but nod.
"Good," Hwoarang turned and trekked off, waving a hand behind him. "See you later."
Xiaoyu watched him go in a daze, butterflies dancing in her belly.
That did feel like magic…
