He would tell her. He promised himself and Honey, who'd been bugging him about it for days.
"It's your only chance, Takashi! What if Tama-chan or Hika-chan get to her first, and she agrees?" Honey had whispered during their usual Host Club meeting. Everyone had been distracted with dressing up Haruhi in fluffy dresses despite her disapproval except Kyouya who was too busy planning the celebration for the coming New Year. Mori did notice that he would occasionally glance at Haruhi and smile just the slightest.
Mori nodded at his cousin. "You're right. I'll tell her."
Finally, the night had come and the party at the school was in full swing. All were in attendance because who in their right mind would miss an event thrown by the Host Club?
As everyone danced and enjoyed themselves, the time flew by incredibly quickly. Laughter, the smell of food and colorful dresses nearly overwhelmed the senses of those there.
Mori spent all night at his cousin's side, politely turning down offers to dance by his admirers, who left sometimes in silent tears. His eyes were scanning the crowd, but Haruhi was no where to be seen.
He felt Honey pull at his sleeve. "You've got five minutes until New Year. Go find her before it's too late!" He said, his face worried for his much taller cousin.
The tall man froze for only a moment. "I'll be back later," he muttered. Honey nodded and dashed into the crowd giggling and dancing with girls. Mori ran.
He first checked Music Room Three. Empty.
The nearly library. Also empty.
The food table - which was covered in fancy tuna - also did not have Haruhi.
Finally, with only ten seconds to spare, he found her on a private balcony only for the Hosts, and there was Haruhi, in a little black dress and her long-hair wig.
Mori swept Haruhi in his arms and kissed her, not caring about the others seeing and ignoring their protests and shock.
To his surprise, she kissed him back. She pulled away after a moment and blushed.
"Happy New Year Takashi," she said.
The fireworks went off and, even though it was the most cliché thing in the world, Takashi Morinozuka knew it would be an amazing New Year indeed.
A/N: YAY HAPPY NEW YEAR! WOOHOO! :)
