Ahsoka couldn't sleep.

She convinced herself it was due to the loud snoring coming from right next to her and the hot breath on the back of her neck, but she knew it was more than that.

She had just had sex.

Had just consummated. Well, without all the extra hassle of "love" being involved. She was thankful for that in a way, but she wasn't prepared for the sense of emptiness she felt.

And out of everyone, why did it have to be the bounty hunter?!

He even had the nerve to fall asleep immediately after, like any drunk cowboy would do. Get the girl, then get some sleep. She would have found it funny if it wasn't so infuriating.

"Hey," she whispered, turning her head slightly around to look at him. "Roll over."

He only seemed to snore louder, his mouth hanging open in a comical fashion to show rows of his yellow teeth. She rolled her eyes, then debated whether he would get too angry if she nudged him. An extra loud snore and she came to her decision.

"Oouf..." Bane shifted after the contact of a sharp elbow in his ribs, then seemed to dismiss it as he stretched out his long body. Ahsoka heard various pops and cracks coming from his bones. Then, as if he just remembered he still had jail-bait in his bed, he looped a possessive arm around the young padawan and seemed to pull her even closer to him.

Maybe that didn't work out quite the way she planned.

She squirmed a little, trying to get some room, but that only made him hold on tighter.

"Knock it off," he growled, and she stopped immediately. But not before releasing an exasperated sigh. He had his face pressed to the back of her neck, and she could feel him smile, his sharp teeth poking out and touching her flesh. She even thought she heard him chuckle, but with Bane you could never tell.

She stayed like that for a while, still swimming with pent up energy, focusing on a spot on the other side of the room.

She tried to turn her head to look at him again, but he had her in a death grip. She huffed.

"You know, we're one cliche away from a trashy romance story."

She waited a beat, but then felt him smile again. She was even sure he chuckled this time.

"What cliche would that be, youngling?"

She thought about it.

"I would have to throw your clothes out the window of your ship."

At this, he really did laugh, as if it was the funniest thing in the universe.

"Well, there's still time."

Ahsoka smiled at this, but only for a second. In a way, the friendly banter was even worse than fighting with the bounty hunter.

It made it a lot harder to hate him.

She almost didn't notice his strong fingers encircle the top of her arm, giving it a light squeeze. The gesture was so comfortable, so unlike him. It made Ahsoka want to cry.

"I like you, kid."

"Yeah," she whispered, seemingly to herself. "I kinda like you too..."

In a minute, she heard the snoring again, filling the room like a bad omen.

"...that's the bad part."
