Me Besó
No, you are not supposed to know who they are. Silly people!!Pulling her jacket more tightly around herself, she stepped onto the pavement, her high heels making the slightest click with the ground. He stepped closer to her, wrapping his arm possessively around her waist as he walked her from the street to her front door.
They avoided making eye contact.
Awkwardly, the pair stopped at her doorstep. Biting her lip, she looked down, while he rubbed the back of his head and tried to look anywhere but the top of her head.
Finally.. "Did you have a good time?"
She smiled. A light blush tinged her pale face as she raised her head to look into his eyes. "Yes, I did. Thank you."
He returned the grin, though his was less reserved. "No problem. I'm glad."
The silence returned.
A light flicked on inside the house, and she looked up. Her parents were awake, waiting for her. Biting her lip, she glanced over at him uncertainly.
He looked surprised. He stiffened ever so slightly when she glanced at him, her fragile porcelain features bathed in the golden light of her porch lamp. Her hair was curled, still perfectly pinned up behind her ears. The winter breeze had caught the end of her knee-length coat, sending the fabric rippling into his knees.
He had remained motionless. Her expression fell, not enough for him to notice, and she turned to the side. "Good night.." She murmured, turning to give him one last hopeful glance.
Clenching one of his hands into a fist, he caught her gaze. A muffled thump came from within the house, and they both looked away again.
Realizing the futility of her actions, she reached out to unlock her front door.
He caught her hand, bringing it back down to her side. Then he held onto her other hand, and turned her so that she was looking up at him.
Surprised, she leaned him to him as he pulled her into his embrace. They stood there like that for a matter of seconds, her head leaning on his shoulder, his arms around her, her arms curled between them.
It couldn't have been that long. Finally, she pulled back ever so slightly, and looked up at him. Her mouth formed to ask a question, but he captured her voice with his lips.
She resisted for a moment, unable to fight her instincts, and then melted back into him.
After a moment, he pulled away. He stepped back, smiling softly, fighting the chuckles that rose in his throat at her shocked expression. "Good night." He rubbed her palm between his thumb and forefinger, then stepped off her front porch.
Smiling to himself, he sauntered down the sidewalk, disappearing down the street as the night's darkness enveloped him.
She remained standing on the front porch, bathed in the golden light of the antique lamp.Uh.. yeah. R&R!!
