Air

Avatar Yangchen knows that it's too late for her even before the coughing begins and before the fever comes.

She could have went down from the mountain for help earlier but she didn't. She knows now that staying away from the majority of humanity was a mistake. Being a hermit wasn't what being the Avatar was about and she curses that view.

She only hopes the next Avatar isn't going to lock him or herself away from humanity as she did.

Water

The angry bear-leopard gives a roar before charging. It's massive paws blow the powdery snow skywards as it barges towards the Avatar.

Avatar Kuruk grips his broken spear and stares down the animal in front of him. His mouth is set in a hard frown, his normal look after Koh had taken his wife.

Kuruk gives a growl of his own before charging. Even after Ummi gone, he is still reckless. But this recklessness isn't borne of youthful pride. No. It's the recklessness of a man with nothing more to lose.

The bear-leopard is closer, the blood from it's chest wound staining the churned up snow crimson. Kuruk is closer and for the first time in the fifteen years Ummi's been missing, he smiles.

Earth

Avatar Kyoshi knows she's the oldest living human and she feels like it.

She instinctively knows that her death is coming. In battles against both humans and disease, Kyoshi has brushed against death many times.

She feels it coming again and, like an old friend, she welcomes it.

Fire

Avatar Roku didn't want to fight Sozin.

His old friend was stubborn and ambitious. Sozin always wanted to fight. Roku, the elements themselves, the other nations... It didn't matter to him. In that respect, Sozin never did change.

But Roku remembers his childhood friend as kindhearted and would apologize quickly after an offense was done. Now that Sozin was older, he never apologized.

Avatar Roku knew he would get no mercy.

"Guards, take Avatar Roku to the dungeon. There he will stay until there is time to execute him for crimes against the Fire Nation."

He knows in his next life he knows would pay for his reluctance. Silently he prays for forgiveness.

This drabble was done for theavatar100 drabble challenge. Theme was "To die another day". If you don't know who Avatar Yangchen or Avatar Kuruk is, I suggest going to YouTube and search for "avatar kuruk" or "avatar yangchen". It'll be a comic from "Escape From the Spirit World".
