Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Percy and the Haunted Mine" from Season 6. Enjoy and comment.
During the summer, the branch-line stationmasters take part in a friendly competition, to see which station is the most beautiful on Sodor.
The engines like to help too.
One evening, Sir Topham Hatt came to the sheds.
"Percy, you are to collect some flowers for Lower Tidmouth Station." he said. "They are waiting at Maithwaite."
"Maithwaite?" said Percy nervously. "Of course sir! I'll go right away!"
And Percy did.
Percy chuffed nervously through the foggy night. He doesn't like traveling to Maithwaite at night.
The line passes through a junction next to a spooky old quarry mine.
Percy hoped the signal would be green. He didn't want to stop near the mine.
But the signal was red.
Percy had to stop.
Then, it happened. The chimney at the mine sank into the ground!
"Bouncing buffers!" cried Percy.
His driver was surprised to see the old chimney sink to the ground.
Soon, the signal turned to green, and Percy puffed away as fast as he could.
The next day, Percy told Donald and Douglas about the disappearing chimney.
"It's the naughty gnomes." teased Donald.
"They always make strange things happen." said Douglas. "Legend says they steal your wheels and your funnels."
Percy didn't believe them, but he wasn't so sure.
Later that day, Sir Topham Hatt was waiting for Percy at Dryaw Station.
"I want you to collect some freight cars from the abandoned mine." he said.
"Yes sir." said Percy nervously. He didn't want to go there at all.
Percy hoped that he wouldn't see anything else disappear.
He slid into the siding and coupled up to the freight cars.
"It's too spooky!" cried Percy.
Suddenly, the warehouse began to sink into the ground.
"What was that?!" shouted his driver.
"Double bouncing boilers!" shreaked Percy.
He was so scared, that he bumped the freight car, causing gnomes to be knocked out!
"Naughty gnomes!" snapped Percy as he steamed away at warp speed.
Sir Topham Hatt was waiting at Lower Tidmouth Station.
Percy's driver told Sir Topham Hatt what they had seen.
"It's the naughty gnomes!" cried Percy. "Legend says they like to cause trouble."
"Nonsense!" said Sir Topham Hatt. "The old buildings are just collapsing into empty mine shafts."
"But I saw the gnomes!" protested Percy.
"Of course you did. All you saw were garden gnomes."
"Garden gnomes?"
"They are for Lower Tidmouth Station. Garden gnomes are supposed to bring good luck."
Sir Topham Hatt then ordered Percy to collect the garden gnomes.
Percy was scared, but he had to be responsible and really useful.
"I'm not scared, I'm not scared!" he chuffed.
He waited for something spooky to happen, but it didn't!
And Sir Topham Hatt was right. The garden gnomes weren't spooky at all!
His driver and fireman collected the gnomes, and Percy set off towards Lower Tidmouth Station.
Lower Tidmouth Station won the award, and the stationmaster thanked Percy later that week.
"We wouldn't have won the competition without you!"
Percy was very proud.
"You were right sir! Naughty gnomes can be lucky after all!"
And everyone agreed!
