Peter opened the door as silently as he could. Behind him, the sun was just starting to show itself. Sensing Aunt May was just around the corner, he gave up and pushed the door shut. He walked straight to the fridge and opened it, bending over to search for something to eat.

"You don't have to wait up for me, you know."

"Yes I do."

"No, you don't." Peter insisted, slightly irritated.

"Did you get the eggs?" Aunt May asked, an edge in her voice as well.

Peter froze. "Eggs. Forgot the eggs." He turned to the door. "I'll go-"

Aunt May stood from her chair so fast that it nearly toppled. She pushed the door shut as Peter opened it. "Not at this hour, you won't!"

Peter kept his head down so she couldn't see his face, walking to stand over the stove. "Peter. Peter, take the damn hood off and look at me!"

Peter ripped the hood off his head and turned around.

Aunt May's mouth fell open slightly. The left side of his face was covered in purple bruises. "Where do you go? Who does this to you?" She asked, a hand hovering over his cheek.

Peter shook his head. "Just go to sleep."

"Peter-"

"Please, Aunt May, just go to sleep!"

"I can't sleep! Don't you get it? I can't."

Both were silent for a moment. Peter bit his lip so hard it should have been bleeding. The kettle on the stove began screaming and both of them moved to take it off.

"Peter," Aunt May sighed. "Secrets aren't free. They all come with a cost."

If this secret were worth how heavy it was weighing on him in gold, he'd be a millionaire. "I'm fine." Peter said roughly, turning away and heading upstairs. He stopped halfway up. "I'm sorry Aunt May. Goodnight."

Author's Notes: This scene from the movie was requested by Heamic08, thanks for reminding me it even existed XD I know it isn't perfect, since my memory of the movie is seriously starting to fade. If you remember anything I left out, please let me know! And, some good news, I think I know where I'm going with Aftermath! Before I was just kinda stumbling around, but now I have some semblance of a plot line, that will hopefully be interesting. Thanks again guys. :)
