-The Beginning-

Luka sat on the couch, her feet propped up on the ottoman. She was chatting avidly with Kaito, who seemed to be slightly distressed at nothing in particular. Meiko hung close by, the three of them were fairly close, being the more mature of the Vocaloids. Together, they shared a house with Rin and Len, the bright psuedotwins, and Miku, the resident diva in all respects. Sometimes other Vocaloids, like Gumi or Gakupo, came by. They lived nearby...somewhere. Luka couldn't quite recall where.
"So, Kaito," Meiko spoke up, leaning over the back of the couch, head propped up on her hands. "What were you complaining about?"
"Oh, well, it's just—" The blue boy was interrupted as Miku, the "Number One Princess", strode in. All this fame was reeeally going to her head, she was a rather young star and it showed. She did carry herself like royalty, though her face spelled distaste. Luka held back a sigh, looking to Meiko and Kaito.
"Hey, Miku!" Meiko grinned, waving a bit.
"Yo," Kaito greeted.

"What's up?" Luka dared to ask.
"Where's Rin? She said we'd go out today." Miku said, frowning.
"Dunno...with Len somewhere, probably."
"To where? As dates?" Kaito grinned jokingly.
Miku shrugged casually. "Nah. And, I'm not quite sure...Rin said she had a surprise planned."
"Oh?" The corner of Luka's mouth tipped up, amused. Miku nodded.
"I'll be sure to keep an eye out for her, then...the twins are hard to miss, they're like fucking lights." Meiko laughed, tapping Kaito's shoulder as a goodbye before disappearing into the kitchen.
"Well, she's not wrong…" Luka said, grinning.
"Ugh, yeah, thanks." Miku said, briskly walking out. Luka thought she heard Kaito humming a song from Frozen.
"The Ice Queen should just….let it go." Kaito side-eyed Luka, grinning, while Luka just hung her head in her hands.
"So...what were you going on about earlier?" Luka asked, curious.
"You were there the whole time!" Kaito exclaimed. "Were you not listening?"
"...You see…"
"It's okay, I don't remember either." Kaito laughed, leaning back into the couch cushions. Luka didn't notice, she was too busy brooding.
"Kaito…" Luka began, unsure of how to word it.
"Hm?" Kaito looked at her, blue eyes attentive as Luka played with her long pink hair.
"...Actually, forget I said anything." Luka shook her head, standing.
"Okay…?" Kaito's face was laced with confusion.
Luka looked out the window, now noticing how pretty it was out that day. "Where'd Meiko run off to?"
"You called?" Meiko appeared from the kitchen, a soda in her hand. She never drank, not until everyone was asleep. Only sometimes she drank with others around, though only Kaito and Luka in the dead of night when things were very, very wrong. She used to drink all the time...Luka was glad for her. Very, very glad.
"Mm...just curious as to where you were." Luka said, walking over. "Can I have a sip?"
"Sure." Meiko replied, handing her the can. Luka took a swig, wiping the wetness from her mouth when she gave the can back to Meiko.
"Say...do you guys remember our old castle?" Luka asked.
