The Lost Princess

Our story begins with a sound so soft
No human could tell what exactly it was
But the town just sung with joy and glee
As the lost princess returned to me

It was a cold Wednesday night
The kingdom shone brightly with light
And the king and queen were glad to see
Their daughter, the princess, as family

But a few hours later when all were asleep
An evil not seen before rose from the deep
With its claws it scratched, with its throat it snatched
The princess, the baby, with its hand it clutched

The news traveled fast about the princess
The girl was kidnapped from her mother's embrace
And for twenty long years, every guest hears
Of her, and waiting until she appears

The day has arrived, the day of the wedding
It has been pre-planned, a royal setting
The prince stood alone in his groom suit and glass
Awaiting the princess, the maiden, lass

She sat by herself on the dirty ground
Her dress long since ruined, she can't turn around
But if she could she would have seen
The prince marching forward to save her from him

The battle was bloody and all hope was lost
When the prince on the white horse fell from his post
With a sword in his heart, where love used to be
The princess could hear sorrow dripping slowly

Waiting for death, she stayed in the cave
Alone and afraid, she heard people rave
About a princess so pure and pristine
That girl, whom she wished she would have been

The king sent for guards, hearing word on his daughter
The search party's found a girl in the water
With a blood stained dress and half-open eyes
The princess returns and my broken heart dies
