Author's Note: Please review with constructive criticism. I feel like I'm working on something big considering how many times I've edited this portion. I'd like feedback on my writing style, use of vocabulary, literary structure, etc. Your sincere honesty is going to help me develop as a writer, so I thank you!

Disclaimer: If I could, I'd own these supernaturally fabulous creatures, but I don't, I'm only human. Ha-ha. And if I sound like Stephenie Meyer, or the plot seems to allude to elements of Twilight, it is simply from inspiration. But this baby is my own, a colossal tribute to vampire-mortal love.

POV from this point forward: Elizabeth "Lizzie" Marie Belaqua (Thanks to sweetkyo for bringing this to my attention, haha.)

Preface

The moon was waning in its ability to light the night. Only stars, seemingly heartless in their attempt to rearrange destiny, were in a battle with darkness. I had my own to fight, and it was difficult to keep moving. The leaf-littered ground below me transformed into shadow as the forest path grew more dense and threatening with each passing second.

I knew where I had to go. I knew where he would be. Whether it was right or wrong for me to be there, I did not care.

Aiden's voice came back to me: When you have lived for so long, you tend to forget what mortality means, unless there is something worth holding onto, worth fighting for, will you find comfort in trying to live again.

When I reached the edge of the forest, and met the ravenous eyes of my immortal enemies, one thing was absolutely certain: I was going to die tonight. But, in the place of someone I truly loved, I had no regrets.
