Disclaimer: Voyager's at the top of my Christmas list this year.

Secretly, everyone loves Christmas. Just a little. I love holidays in general, and learning about them — they're such a wonderful artistic outlet, which is why I wish we would have gotten a few more Christmas/Prixin/—insert-alien-holiday-here— episodes.

And then there's the whole 'spirit of Trek' thing, what with the 'seeking out new worlds' and all. Action is fun. High drama is wonderful. But not without the giggles. Life is only abysmal half the time, and the current crop of writers in Hollywood are all ignoring that fun little fact.

The first of my Christmas fics actually only proves that Phoebe was a smart-ass even in her younger years. I'm going to say this again — I love minor characters, and Phoebe gets less air time than T'Pel or Mark Stupid-Head Johnson. She even beats some of my other minor character fixations in that category.

The Biggest Question

"There still no way that anyone could do all that in just one night," the first voice hissed, the determined tones barely making their way to the door

The second whisperer was quiet and more plaintive. "But what if they have powers like we've never heard of? We still don't know everything, and I never said it had to be just one person. Maybe there are lots of them and they have rules like the Prime Directive where they can't interact with us."

"Then they wouldn't give us presents anyways."

"But I still think they do."

"And I still think your wrong."

"Just because you can't prove it doesn't mean it isn't real."

Edward Janeway shook his head at the sound of his daughter's whispered debate and looked to his wife. "How long as this been going on?" he asked, his voice low enough to keep undetected.

"Every night," Gretchen sighed. "Phoebe sneaks out of her room and they chatter until they fall asleep." She smiled. "She begged and begged for her own room, and now that she has one, she won't use it. But they're actually having a civil conversation. See the problem?"

Edward was quiet for a moment. "They do put up very convincing arguments."

The jab in the shoulder the admiral received for his troubles completely destroyed the stereotype of mathematicians being frail and peaceful. "Get back to work, Admiral Santa."

A/N: Everyone makes Phoebe play the matchmaker in J/C relationships, so serious discussions are automatically attributed to that.
