Disclaimer: Don't own the characters, but if I did, a lot wouldn't have died :(
A/N: Been a long time since I wrote a NCIS story, let's hope I still got it eh. My cat is sleeping under the sheet in my bed, and I thought, 'there is a monster in my bed' cuz she can be a little monster at times. Then out of nowhere this idea popped up and it seemed cute enough to write! Beta work done by McGonagall's Bola. Please R&R…

"Daddy!" a little voice rang through the house. Gibbs opened an eye and saw his wife sitting up in bed.
"Go back to sleep. I'll go," Gibbs yawned, resting a hand on her shoulder and kissing her forehead. Half awake, Gibbs stumbled to his daughter's room just down the hall. Gibbs pushed back the door and entered the dark room. He moved across to the bedside table and turned on the lamp.
"I can't sleep, Daddy," the five year old girl cried.
"Why not, pumpkin?" Gibbs asked, stifling a yawn.
"There is a monster under my bed," she mumbled, pulling the sheets up to her chin. Gibbs smiled faintly and slowly got down on his knees. Placing a hand on the bed for stability, he lowered his head and looked underneath.
"I don't see anything," Gibbs replied, lifting his head.
"Daddy, there is a monster under the bed!" Sophie huffed, folding her arms over her chest.
"I looked, and there was nothing there," Gibbs said, getting back up to his feet.
"It is this huge!" Sophie cried, jumping up and flinging her arms out. "It has ten tentacles, a long scaly tail, two heads and five horns!" Sophie explained. Gibbs stared down at his daughter; he didn't know whether to laugh at his daughter's imagination or not.
"Well, how about this," Gibbs paused, dragging the armchair from the corner to beside the bed. "I stay here until you fall asleep, and if I see the monster, I'll kick it out," Gibbs suggested with a smile. Sophie nodded sleepily and snuggled back under the cover. She closed both eyes but peeked through one to check if Gibbs was still in her room.
"Go to sleep, Sophie," he whispered, settling into the chair.

Kate watched as Gibbs left the room; she lay back down against the pillow and yawned. 'Sophie probably just wants a glass of water,' Kate thought, glancing across at the clock to see it was 1:35pm. She smiled to herself knowing that when Gibbs returned, he would probably wake her up. He always tried to be as quiet as a mouse after a long night of working on his boat. But Kate always woke up to say goodnight to her husband. Taking a deep breath, Kate felt her body start to relax back into a peaceful sleep.
The next time Kate opened her eyes, she glanced across at the clock and saw it was four in the morning.
"What did Sophie want?" Kate asked, rolling over. Frowning, Kate sat up alone in the bed. She got up, wrapping a dressing gown around her shoulders, and walked down the hall to Sophie's room. Kate gently pushed back the door and peered inside. Sophie was fast asleep in her bed, and she found Gibbs sleeping in the armchair by the bed. Smiling to herself, she grabbed a blanket from the floor and draped it over him. Kate stared down at her family and sighed happily. It was rather odd how life just turned out, 'A good odd, though' Kate smiled. Thus, resulting in marrying Gibbs and having a wonder daughter together. She never would have dared to hope this to happen when she started working at NCIS. She as incredibly happy with her life and the way it turned out; and she believed, or at the very least hoped, Gibbs didn't mind how it turned out as well.
"Good night, baby," she whispered, kissing his cheek; and went back to bed.
