Author: Okay so I'm going to restart this story because after a couple of years, it embarrasses me. This calls for a retry! Disclaimer! I own nothing. I am just pathetically writing out my selfish desires through poor Kanda.
Yuu's POV
I'm running through the tunnels, when the sound of shouting and footsteps draws near. "I found subject 4552. Immediate action will be executed!" one of the voices reported. I curse them and everything in my mind. I don't have time for this! I continue running, not bothering to look behind as I focus on putting one foot in front of the other as fast as possible. Two bullets graze my shoulder and hip.
I'm so close! I can't die now! My breath is labored as I look for some kind of exit. In my desperation I see a rusted, barred ticket to freedom. I stumble my way over to the bars and pull with all my might to bend them. The bars give just enough to allow my freedom when I hear more wet footsteps approaching. Without another thought I jump into the slightly shallow canal below me. I see what looks to be an open sewage pipe. I quickly crawl into it; the sound of shots can be heard from behind. Once inside, I realize the pipe leads to the sewage tunnels in the city. After following it for what seems like hours I easily lift the metal lid blocking the tunnels and find myself on an abandoned sidewalk. I look up at the gray, angry sky as I pass an empty shop. I can hear the news report blaring from inside.
"There will be a severe typhoon coming east of the city, so for your safety, please remain indoors." says the pretty weather woman. I can't afford to waste another minute. I pass an apartment complex with an overhang and stop under there to recover. I could stay here, but how do I get in? Out of nowhere hear a loud slam above my head and I watch as millions of papers scatter in the wind while a faraway figure sits onto the ledge of their window. "Well, now I know how to get in." I whisper to the violent wind around me.
Nicolette's POV
I walk into my bedroom and turn on my TV. The room is dark, save for the light coming from the TV screen. I am in a place called No.6, where it's normal to be a genius. I to tune into a storm outside; the weather channel says something about a typhoon. I walk over to my windows and automatically swing them open to let in the fresh rain, not caring if messes up my room. A sudden spark courses through my body as I nearly hurl myself onto the ledge.
Sitting on the ledge, I watch as all the loose papers on my desk are carried away by the wind. I take in all the feelings that the storm brings. I feel the wind violently shake my frame and dishevel my hair. I feel the rain pelt my closed eyelids as I listen to the roars of the storm. After a few minutes of listening, I step back inside to the warm room and walk over to my teddy bear. He stares at me with a permanent amused partially questioning gaze while I fix my hair. I just give him an sheepish smile as I lift the tiny bear from his seat on my pillow.
As I put Bearemy on top of my head and turn to close the windows, I see a tall figure standing on my ledge. It's dripping something dark and thick from its right side. I set Bearemy back on the pillow. Seeing the figure fills me with apprehension, but I can't help but wonder aloud.
"Is that … Blood?" The figure doesn't answer so I take two careful steps forward as I try not to startle it. The figure blurs and I'm suddenly forced to the wall. The figure, who now looks to be a boy, closes his hand around my throat and pins one of my arms to the wall. I look at him calmly and try to speak around tightening grip. "It's alright you know, I won't hurt you." I inform him tenderly
The boy doesn't reply; his gaze is alert and intimidating. As he looms over me I notice his eyes are almost pitch black. I just look quizzically at him as I ask "Will you let me go?" this earns me a befuddled look from the boy. "…No? I'm not an idiot. You're gonna turn me in!" he replies with a deadly scowl on his face. "Well you don't look like you could hurt me. Why would I turn you in if I don't see a threat? How old are you? You look around my age!" I exclaim. His face darkens considerably. "I don't know if you're trying to be funny, but that attitude of yours is really starting to annoy me… I could end you and not give it a second thought." " you haven't done it yet; you're waiting for me to prove that I'm a liability, but I haven't done anything against you, so you can't." he looks at me astonished, then lets out a low chuckle before backing away and crouching to hold himself.
"How would you know..." he grimaces in pain as I follow his example.
"Do you mind if I tend to those?" I point to the wounds on his shoulder and hip. He stares through me as if searching for something any hidden intentions before looking away, his long, black hair clinging to the sides of his face. "Whatever." I take that as a yes and rush to get the first aid kit.
Author: That was my remake of the first chapter after so many years. I like this one a lot better than the original. Please leave a review and let me know what you think. Also I decided to break here to give people a chance to adjust. The next chapter is going to start with Kanda's POV.
