"Annie Grace Cresta! Come down for breakfast!" Mom yelled from the living room. We lived in District 4- fishing. Our house was on the small side, but there were only four of us. My step-dad, my younger sister- Jenna, my mom- Helene, and myself.

I trudged downstairs on Reaping day and prayed Jenna wouldn't get picked.

"Girls get ready." Jason- my step father- said. He was younger than my mom, but I was happy because she was. When I asked her why she picked him, she said that if I found love, then I would understand.

I slid into a spaghetti strap blue and white floral dress that was the best thing I had.

Jenna got dressed in a strapless sea green dress.

"Annie Cresta, you look gorgeous." Daniella- my best friend- said grinning.

"Wait, you look exhausted instead." She added.

"It's Reaping Day, I couldn't sleep." I said.

Daniella nodded and her blond hair was braided.

"Welcome, everyone, of District Four!" Tinsel squealed into the microphone.

"The miraculous Hunger Games have come around again and this year our tributes will be-"She said breaking off. Her sunshine yellow skin blinded me for one moment and her cherry red hair made me think of delicious pink lemonade.

And then my knees buckled.

"Annie Cresta?" She asked peering into the crowd as I regained myself. I had no clue what I would do with myself. My life was over. No Careers were volunteering because they seemed interested in watching me die, very painfully.

"Henry VanderSion." Tinsel said gleefully.

The very muscular Career stepped onto the stage and my knees buckled again.

I collapsed and I couldn't pick myself back up.

"Oh she's so excited!" Tinsel said clapping with excitement while covering my jelly legs.
