Lucy sat up so quickly she bumped her head on the headboard. She breathed heavily for a few seconds. The warm sleeping (not for long) soldier next to her sat up too and said,
"Bad dream Luce?" Lucy smiled. She remembered the first time he had called her that nickname.
"You know what Wyatt? I don't want to have to hear you whine anymore." Lucy stomped over to the door.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Wyatt was standing by his bed, a frown on his face.
"You're always whining about the things you've lost, everything you've went through. My sister was erased from history, my mother dead trying to recruit me to a evil cult organization, and right after I finally got together with the man that I loved, he left me to be with his now undead wife and the rug got pulled out from under my feet again! So don't you dare go around acting like you're the one who got screwed just because she betrayed you!" Lucy stomped towards the door.
"Wait," Wyatt said. "You love me?"
"That hardly matters now, Wyatt." Wyatt crossed the distance between them in two strides.
"Wyatt what are you-" Lucy's words were cut off with a kiss. A beautiful, breathtaking kiss. When Wyatt finally pulled away, a sad look in his eyes.
"I'm sorry Luce," Lucy's heart squeezed at the nickname. "I'm so so sorry." He hugged Lucy, and as much as she wanted to pull away, she didn't.
Lucy smiled and pulled Wyatt in for a kiss.
"Come on," She said. "It's almost 8 anyway, we should get up." Wyatt held on to her arm.
"We don't have to get up just yet," He said as he pulled her in, she giggled through his lips as he kissed her.
"Wyatt," Lucy said. "No more kissing until breakfast." The two hopped out of bed, and made their way to the kitchen. Jiya was already there, brewing some coffee.
"Hey," Lucy said.
"Hi," Jiya Said. "Do you want some coffee?"
"Sure," Wyatt said. He turned around and kissed Lucy.
"Wyatt!" She said reproachfully.
"You said until breakfast. It's officially breakfast."
"Ugh, your hopeless," she said as she leaned in for another one.
"You guys have a room for that now, come on!" Rufus said. Lucy and Wyatt smiled.
"Shut up," Jiya Said, hitting him on the arm.
"Ow!" He said.
"I did not hit you that hard drama queen," Jiya said. Rufus rolled his eyes playfully and went back to his cereal. Wyatt went over to the stove and started heating up a pan.
"Eggs?" He said.
"Yes please," She said. He turned back to the stove and deftly cracked an egg one handed. "Show off," Lucy said.
"It's not my fault that you suck at cooking," Wyatt said. Lucy gasped.
"You did not!" She said.
"Oh I believe I did." He said. Lucy quickly dunked her hand into the sink, and flicked the water to Wyatt.
"Hah!" She said.
"Hey flirts, your eggs are burning."
"Damn!" Wyatt said. He flipped the eggs over, and the side was mud brown at best.
"Not the best cook now, are we," Lucy said.
"You're impossible!" Wyatt said.
"So I am told," Lucy said. She smiled and turned to face Wyatt. "Your dead by the way soldier boy."
"You too Professor," He said. Wyatt smiled and served himself the burnt eggs. He lifted the fork to his mouth but didn't get far before the alarms went off. "I swear, those things exist to mess with me."
"Yeah, they kinda do," Lucy said. She smiled and said,
"What is it?"
"Um... February 4th, 1913" Jiya Said.
"That's Ruby Bridges."
"Great," Said Rufus. "The height of segregation." Lucy smiled. The rest of the team nodded and all piled into the Lifeboat.
"God, I hope they're all right." Jiya said. She stood her ground as the wind from the Lifeboat ripped through the room.
