The Camping Trip
It was official. My family was going camping on a mountain just outside of a little town called Cody, Wyoming. "Mom, I don't want to go," I had said. As a fifteen year-old girl, just coming out of her first year of high school, camping did not appeal to me. The good news was I could bring a friend with me. Thankfully, my best friend Alice agreed to go and that was that. No TV, no iPod, no phone, and no internet.
After a long car ride of listening to a few "Saturday Heroes" we arrived. Oh yeah I should also mention that my family is Mormon. You could call me the rebellious teen or whatever I don't really care. I was just mad that I was missing one of the biggest parties of the year to go look at some caves. Anyway, by the time we unloaded the camping gear, and hiked up the mountain it was already getting dark.
"Alright," my dad said, "tomorrow we hit the caves, but tonight, let's just get some sleep so we can get an early start tomorrow." Then he went into his tent and started getting ready for bed. My dad is weird like that, he's an archaeologist, so he takes things like this pretty seriously.
The next morning at six sharp, we were already up and eating breakfast.
Hope I haven't scared you away. R&R!
