Lonely Together
Sort of a song-fic. Song – Lonely Together by Aviccii ft. Rita Ora (basically I don't own the song or Ninjago for that matter). I know this song is old but… (nothing ;) ). Sort of the next year but the same events as Not Alone but opposite roles. Song : Nya and Kai 3
They were celebrating a well earned victory; it was one of the toughest villains they had come up against yet. Even though none of them had gotten much sleep, they were just happy for it to end. The ninja were hugging each other, sharing highlights of the battle and just generally talking. Except 1 certain ninja, who was close yet apart from the rest.
Kai was distant from the celebration, answering the odd question here and there, but not as into it a the others. They didn't really notice, there to wrapped up in their own thoughts, he thought. "You alright, Hothead?" he heard Cole ask.
"Yeah" Kai replied, plastering a fake smile onto his face, he didn't want their pity. Most of the ninja thought nothing of it, except Nya. She knew that Kai wasn't as fiery, full of it, or into it as he normally was, and she knew why. It was their parents Remembrance Day, the day they mysteriously left without notice. She knew what she had to do…
Once she was finished with her project, it was nearly sundown. Nya fired up the bounty and set a course for Ninjago. She was just as upset about their parents as he was, but she had made a silent vow when they had died to never cry again, it was a weakness, a weakness that could be exploited.
Kai stood on the deck of the bounty, his arms carefully (as Kai could get to it) on the railing. Nya looked at him through the cockpit windows, looking at her brother with compassion. It was just as hard on him as it was on her, even more so. She remembered last years Remembrance Day:
Flashback - you don't have to read this if you have already read Not Alone, cos this is basically it ;):
No one on the Bounty knew that it was the depressing remembrance day of when their parents had died, all those years ago, the day they were abandoned, left to fend for themselves. Obviously Kai knew, but he seemed to have had move on, even when they were kids. A single, perfectly formed tear fell from her chocolate brown eyes, followed by others. After 30 seconds, they were pouring down her cheeks uncontrollably, stream past her rosy cheeks.
She felt a pair of strong arms grasp around her waist. "Did you think I forgot?" His voice soft, compassionate even. "I...I" Nya stammered. "I thought you had moved on, that I was the only one who mourned them..."
"I mourn them every day, sis, especially today. You should have see the state I was in!" They both let out a small chuckle. "But one day, we won't mourn them as such, but remember the happy times we had with them," Kai reflected
"What? Have you been listening to Sensei too much" Nya giggled.
"Oh, I'm so offended!" He drastically replied. Kai grin turned into a mounting frown. He gripped her tighter. "I never forget them Nya, your not alone."
End of flashback
Well, ok, that was a one off, she thought to herself since she didn't normally cry. Nya went outside to comfort her brother. She mirrored his position, but Kai didn't realize she was there. She pulled out her Ipod and pressed play.

I caught the edge of a knife and it hurts just a little

It's my head or my heart, and I'm caught in the middle" Nya began to sing.
Kai looked up as soon as he heard his sisters angelic voice (A/N I think that they would both be able to sing really well ;3 ).
"What's that for?" he asked her, not seeming that bothered.
"You'll see.." she replied smiling. Nya grabbed her stubborn brothers hand and dragged him off the ship and into an Airjitzu.
"My hands are tied, but not tied enough
You're the high that I can't give up
Oh lord, here we go" Nya sung.
"Where are we going?" he asked, slightly panicing.
"You'll see…" she replied.
She lead him to a small rockside, just next to but underneath the bounty. There was a picture of their mother, Maya, and some beautiful blue flowers that Kai (Basically me) couldn't remember the name of them. Next to that was a picture of their father, Ray, and some other flowers that he couldn't name, but these ones were a bright shad of red. In the middle, there was a picture of the whole family, but from maybe around 10 or so years ago. Their mother and father were in the centre, with Kai on his father's shoulders and Nya in her mothers safe arms. A single tear escaped Kais eye, these were old, forgotten, joyous memories.
"I might hate myself tomorrow

They sat down on the rock, practically in each others arms. Nya rested her head on her brothers shoulder. Just at that moment it began to rain. Not heavily, but raining.
"Let's be lonely together

"I miss them too, you know…" Nya spoke softly.
"I know…" Kai replied.
"Eyes wide shut and it feels like the first time
Before the rush to my blood was too much and we flatlined
And I know, and I know, and I know, and I know just how this ends
Now I'm all messed up and it feels like the first time"
It reminded them both of the first year, that was the toughest. They sat there, just like they did on the first year and cried. Nya silently cursed herself after for crying but she couldn't help it at the time.

Kai held her tighter and Nya snuggled into his chest.

"I'm sorry, ok…" Kai tried to explain, "Its just…"
"Its ok…" Nya replied compassionately, "I miss them too"

"You know, the others are probably going to tease us about it tomorrow.." Nya said, giggling a little.
"I'll make sure they don't, don't worry." Kai replied softly.
